True... but the rules are similar. Of course the KO is a live ball and needs to be covered unlike a punt. I wouldn’t have any of my punt returners fielding punts inside the 10 regardless of how good they are. Barney did make a few mistakes which turned out to be not so helpful on field position. I think he’ll simply get better then next couple of years. We kind of drove out Wandale Robinson with misuse imo who is currently playing in the NFL.... We did have a huge upsurge in special team play this season.

It's the right business decision for him, especially if he is going to go in the first few rounds. RBs don't get a long shelf life in the NFL. Go get that money while it is there. Coming back another year would be a high risk, with limited reward for him.
He's likely going in the 4th and I'm not sure he can move up enough to make a huge financial jump for his first contract. He's my favorite Husker this year and last year. I was screaming for him to play more before Satt was demoted.
I think his college stock is as high as it is going to be, unless we also take a big jump next year as a team. 4th round isn't bad, especially as the valuation of RBs has changed in recent years. He'll still likely get a crack to go be in the mix somewhere in the NFL and then from there it is proving you belong.
My fear for him is that if he came back and got hurt or had a less than stellar season, he could quickly turn into a late round/undrafted guy. 4th rounder or better and he is still going to be viewed by the team that drafts him as someone they spent a decent value pick on, which will give him more opportunities.
I'm not sure he can do better in college in terms of raising his draft stock, which is why he's likely to go pro this year. That said, if he looks at his odds of making a big second contract, he could weigh that risk vs. the amount of money he can get this year and see if there's more potential upside to staying a year.
You say it is sounding like EJ is going to go pro. I don't disagree that it is likely that he will go pro, but what is your source for the conclusion? I haven't really heard anything since he said he was going to go home and pray on it and talk it over with his family. Has there been news on this since then?
An acquaintance of mine is friend'ish with an NU reporter. It isn't anything I get lots of info from, but apparently there isn't a real secret among the reporters. Still TBD to some extent, but I heard we promised a really nice NIL package but pro is the heavy lean right now.
We still have posters giving out the Friend of a Friend as fact LOL

Geez I forgot he was still on the team. I had high hopes for him after how he looked last season.
