Tough Series….not playing well.

This is what happens when the athletic department tells season ticket holders they may not receive their season tickets for a regional if it is hosted. Instead, they go to deep pockets that probably never go to any other games. No regional for you

I remember back in 2021… really good team that year with First Team All American Schwellenbach and a host of people that made it to the pros…. Big Ten champions….literally 2 outs from a super regional. Lost to number one rated Arkansas.

A few weeks before, a middle of the road Rutgers team came to Lincoln and swept us…

Rutgers had never beaten us in Lincoln ….ever

It was unbelievable….. a horrible set of losses….And people predicted the sky to fall.

We have a lot left to play for…. Win the BiG tournament and we will still host.

Tough road to hoe sure, but why not?

16 teams out of over 300 get to host…. That’s pretty heady company…. And it would’ve been wonderful for the city of Lincoln, but baseball is full of incredible highs and lows. This weekend being one of those lows.

It will be interesting to see how the team responds to the challenge. Iowa comes into town in a week and they are on a hot streak so we shall see..

Let’s get them!

GBR!

Oh, and I really do agree with the posters who are upset about the athletic department posting on tickets.

Ill timed and ill advised…..

I love your optimistic posts. I actually look forward to them when the wheels fall off. I was really hoping we could host because we'd have a really good shot of advancing. On the road, I'm not as optimistic. There's that word again. On to Iowa, who I still despise in all sports!

D1 Baseball has Nebraska at 17 in their field projection today. They almost left them at 16, but they agreed Oregon is better than NU, so Oregon got the last host spot. Still, they were in the discussion, so if they basically win out and someone ahead of them stumbles a little, they could still snag one of the last couple of host seeds.

Win the last two series
Beat Creighton or at least not a bad loss
Decent showing in the BiG Tournament

Still gives us a chance….

Other than that, I just don’t see a way….

No question, it's a slim chance. I was pleasantly surprised that the D1 guys were actually seriously considering putting Nebraska in as the 16 seed. They were solidly the 17, so they're right in it. They can't lose to these next teams, though, just like they couldn't afford to get swept by Ohio State. And, someone in the 12-16 range needs to fall apart at least somewhat. The way they're playing, 6-1 in the next seven seems like an awfully tall order. They do have some solid credibility with the D1 guys from their season so far, so beat Iowa by a combined score of 76 to 4 and go from there.

I would even take 76-7

Well, we got 33-17, I will take that too.
