Tony White Defense Shredded Again

FSU defense did give up 585 yards, 430 in the passing game.

They did hold SMU to 27 points, good not great but not bad either.

They created 4 turnovers.

Biggest thing IMO is they allowed a sustained drive to close the game.

Four SMU turnovers and one FSU turnover yet SMU won. Total yards: Mustangs 585 yds

Guaranteed Mike Norvell is a #1 hot seat .... and Tony White too. Mike's annual salary, $10.3 million

BTW, almost 2 hours delay .... Doak Campbell stadium power outage
Watched the 1st half of this one. FSU defense looked lousy at points and great in others. SMU had a pretty good looking offense and the FSU offense didn't do the D any favors.

I think what we learned from our time with TW is that his scheme works really well with a good pass rush, but isn't stellar if you don't have it. I wouldn't call it gimmicky, but it definitely isn't something that's going to work incredibly everywhere. Very dependent on having the right personnel.

As for our D, I hope we see more of what it looked like in the 2nd half of the Ohio game and less of what we saw in the first.

3rd and 1, ball is already hiked and halfway to the QB and every DB is 8+ yards off the ball.

There are plenty more plays like this from last night.

Guaranteed Mike Norvell is a #1 hot seat .... and probably Tony White too.
Mike's annual salary, $10.3 million. And $46.7 million buyout . You remember Jimbo Fisher?

I think one more week like this and they do White. Norvell will probably last a few more weeks. Yes, 4 turnovers and nearly 600 yards given up. Statistical anomaly?

3 of the SMU int's were definitely on the QB, can't recall the other one. Apparently that was a concern of his coming into the game- something like 14 last year to 28 TD's.

Yep, the turnovers were as much gifts versus anything else. FSU offense was simply inept at moving the ball. The loss was more to do with FSU simply not being able to take advantage of their opportunities than TWs porous defense, though his units certainly contributed to the loss.
