I doubt this one reaches 1000 pages or posts or whatever. I’m just happy it’s football season.
That's going to be an awesome QB room next year Colandrea has 1 more year eligibility, Lateef and the Frosh coming in is really good. not to mention Kaelin.
At this early point in the season, I don't know about how soon someone will choose to leave. It is another one of the many things we will learn more about as the season goes on.likely to lose both TJ and Danny after this season barring injuries. I’m sure they both want to play. I could also see Colandrea coming back for a 5th season if things go well.
We likely will not have two of those, if not three of them. That's going to be an awesome QB room next year Colandrea has 1 more year eligibility, Lateef and the Frosh coming in is really good. not to mention Kaelin.
This next week is the best chance for DK to see the field, unless things go terribly wrong with injuries. I was a little surprised we waited as long as we did to get Lateef snaps. Scoop and score ate a possession he probably would have gotten to play in.With Trae Taylor coming in next season it’s very doubtful that Lateef remains w/ NU. Hoping Kaelin, a Nebraska boy, remains with NU.
Get DK snaps this season. He has experience with Virginia and is statistically better in some areas than TJ.
TJ definitely has tools. We saw him play really well against UCLA last year. He's got some growing to do in the pass game, I think, but has shown some flashes of really good potential. O-Line seems to be much improved this year, albeit against less than stellar competition, and that's going to make all of our QBs look better. I like that our QBs are fairly similar in their strengths. That should help provide better continuity in play calling.Enjoy the win. Enjoy watching TJ improve and develop. Maybe @Husker In Oklahoma was right last season. I’m impressed with both quarterbacks. Very impressed with the offensive line. Still a lot of season left and who knows what this team really is, but I believe they might be something fun to watch. Six wins or nine I’m going to enjoy it.
I’m not exactly sure what I think or feel about the backup QB situation. This next week is the best chance for DK to see the field, unless things go terribly wrong with injuries. More likely, our sleepwalking through the 3rd quarter convinced the staff that the game wasn't put away yet. So they left the starters in.This next week is the best chance for DK to see the field, unless things go terribly wrong with injuries. For sure, but just looking at the most obvious here.At this early point in the season, I don't know about how soon someone will choose to leave. It is another one of the many things we will learn more about as the season goes on.
TJ did a good job managing what OC put on his plate for that game. Luckily for everybody Dana had it dialed and UCLA didn't account for EJ in the passing game and EJ torched them for a hundred in the air with two TD on top of his hundred and a score on the ground.TJ looked awesome during the UCLA game last year. It’s not like he has never impressed us before. But he didn’t fare so well in the remaining games on the 2025 schedule. Probably shouldn’t put too much stock in how he looked in mop up duty against Bowling Green when the game was essentially out of reach.
Having said that, he did look good and seemed to play with confidence for what it’s worth.
I thought Colandrea was 1 and done. Guess Lateef could still beat him out next year. That's going to be an awesome QB room next year Colandrea has 1 more year eligibility, Lateef and the Frosh coming in is really good. not to mention Kaelin.
I don't feel like we've seen OCDH put the QBs in a lot of situations to get nailed. A few designed runs, but overall, it feels like the QB run game has been pretty conservative given how capable those guys are with their legs. We do need the depth, though.I’m not exactly sure what I think or feel about the backup QB situation.
1) Running the offense OCDH is running suggests that our QBs are going to get hit. Getting hit increases the likelihood that our QB could get hurt. We need a competent backup and Lateef flashed some potential last year. I think in both games so far coaches have done a poor job getting our backup into the game.
2) I’m more pro Kaelin because I think he’s more likely to stick around next season than Lateef. And if so, I’d like to see the game snaps going to him. That feeling is based on (a) he’s already transferred and returned -and- (b) he’s a Nebraska kid and all other things being equal that should work in his favor.
3) If JTL is truly the primary backup then get him realistic game snaps. For example, with a 35-0 halftime lead … why not have him run a Q3 series with the 1st team? I know we are trying to get Colandrea settled but when Raiola went out it was a struggle.
4) JTL is more similar to AC than he was to DR. So maybe the offense transitions if there is a QB change.
5) JTL has the luxury of having been in OCDH’s system for two years but don’t forget DK played in 5 games last year at Virginia.
Also, possible.More likely, our sleepwalking through the 3rd quarter convinced the staff that the game wasn't put away yet. So they left the starters in.
AC is a long shot for the NFL.Colandrea continues to play well. Huskers continue to win. NFL comes calling. Our coaches have done an amazing job filling the QB room with contenders. They all win if the Huskers keep winning. Shared mission. Makes them all better. Makes the Huskers better. GBR!
