Time change: HUSKERS HOST ILLINI - SUN - 3/26/23 - 2:30CT - Haymarket Park - Going for the Sweep!!

It has to be Christo Tuesday and with a quality start, he's my projected Sunday guy for our next conference series, at Michigan.

We only have 2 games this weekend scheduled (non-conference) so we can extend Christo Tuesday to prepare him. He can get another start, limited pitch count the following week and he'll be on schedule for Sunday at Michigan.

If we add a game then I can see Christo on a 50ish pitch count Tuesday to bounce back for a 3rd game this upcoming weekend. I believe it's time to give the big boy another chance and let him sink - or swim.
I think Brockett is our best option as a Sunday starter. He has a fairly proven record of last year and this.

I cringe every time Christo is announced. Can’t find the strike zone with anything close to regularity.

What is Christo’s longest outing? Has he ever made it two full innings?

I'm not against Brockett as our Sunday guy, big fan of his.

Me too, but at some point with our Sunday struggles we have to cut loose a top 100 national recruit and let him start. North Dakota State isn't good, so here's the ball Drew go do something.

Correct, he's been short relief for us but maybe he did start a game earlier as I don't remember.

I agree, Brockett could develop into a starter. Hey, we have to start somewhere. The good thing is, it is still early enough, we can get out of this doldrum before the season is a 2-out-of-3-at-the -most each conference series we play.

Right now, we need to give them all a chance, since we are in a bad state of affairs.

Ummmm, winning 2 of 3 every weekend gets us another B1G title & Regional berth.

I keep reminding people of this, but we tend to slip into the negativity so easily as of late.

I think it’s because we got so used to winning in husker football….. we just expect it.

And this last decade has been a total shock and pretty awful for husker sports, except girls volleyball, baseball, and a couple other bright spots.

The other problem is the game itself…Baseball. People just have a hard time wrapping their head around a concept that a REALLY good and dangerous team might be just a shade above .500.

And 2 of 3 gets you where you want to wind up… and then it’s a crap shoot whoever is ”hot” and stays hot In the post season.

Also…the conference schedule…
We play 2 of probably the best in the conference…don’t play Indy

Take those two series and….

The rest is about as easy as they come in a conference schedule.

I don’t give a crap about RPI….just win….

You will get there.

I for one don’t believe that to be a guarantee. The automatic bid goes to the conf tournament winner. I give us little shot at that as you need at least 4 good arms.

Our RPI will take a huge hit with all the midweek losses to the sisters of the blind. Also Olson and Kaminska give us a great chance at two wins, but that is no guarantee. It also isn’t a guarantee that we lose on Sundays, but sure
seems likely right now.

I just looked up Christo for this year. 4.2 innings. 4 walks, 4 HBP, 1 WP.

He’s likely to give up a run per inning without giving up a hit.

Last year was worse…

Anybody know what happened to Clark? I thought he did reasonably well (especially as a true fresh) as the sunday starter until he ran into Ole Miss. I don’t remember seeing him since.

Also, is Hood going to play this year?

A B1G team that wins every conference series isn't missing a Regional. That's 20 conference wins, minimum.

Clark got lit up against Omaha, not even recording an out. He wasn't very competitive his last 2 outings and in bullpens since. Maybe that changes soon?

Keep in mind folks, the team has been dealing with a flu bug for 2 weeks.

Can you guarantee that Emmett and Jace win every game they pitch?
I would love that but can it be guaranteed?

Thank you.. Some people live in a fantasy.
No guarantee we win 2 of 3 every week!.
That would be great

Even if we do win 2 of 3 in conf play, there is a similar probability of losing the mid week game. That would put us at 500. 500 teams from weak conferences (BIG is currently the 8th best conference) aren’t a lock for a regional.
