McKewon: Amy Williams making sure Husker women embrace expectations after surprise season

"Williams considered NU’s selflessness and balance the team’s biggest strength, and when her culture took hold, she saw players enjoying the game again. She saw them having fun.

Now, the expectations have been raised. Williams embraces that, and she should. Only three players graduate, and a nationally ranked recruiting class of four players joins the program. Williams said she sees no player departures right now.

Next year’s roster, thus, can be as strong as Nebraska’s first team in the Big Ten. That 2011-12 bunch finished 24-9 and earned a No. 6 seed in the NCAA tournament. Lindsey Moore was a junior. Jordan Hooper was a sophomore. And NU had a four-freshman class, headlined by Emily Cady, which eventually made four straight NCAA tournaments.

First things first: Nebraska has to improve its rebounding."
