The Texas Music Thread

I was in San Antonio on the River Walk in the 90's one night and went into a club that specialized in all request music. Two very talented guys with two pianos. You wrote what song you wanted to hear, passed it to the waitress who delivered it to the performers and they played it. But it was always the same old songs..Jimmy Buffet, George Strait, etc. I wrote down London Homesick Blues. The waitress passed to the performers and the guy quieted the crowd and said, "London Homesick Blues. Who requested this song?" I was there with my girlfriend and thought "oh crap. What now?" And sheepishly raised my hand. The guy pointed me out to the waitresses and I drank free the rest of the night. That song was an anthem in Texas.
 


Here is a Texas artist playing at the Boy's from Oklahoma concert at Memorial Stadium this summer.

"Raising hell with the hippies and the cowboys
They don't care about no trends
They don't care about songs that sell
Yeah, tomorrow I'll be gone
So tonight everybody just sing along
Raising hell with the hippies and the cowboys"

I like Texas artists, but I really like the Red Dirt music!

Cody Jinks is awesome! His cover of Hank Jr's "Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound" is pure gold.
