The Road to Eight Wins

Want to find a way to eight wins, well a sneaky one maybe......@Oregon.
I bring it up today because Oregon was reviewed by SI today and they talked little about OU's schedule.
They open with Boise State. Lindy's has BU ranked 28th in the country (DONU is 38th just for perspective) and that will be a much more difficult opener than OU usually has.

Next is OSU (ranked 29th!!!) in Stillwater. Their new coached from Texas State has done a major reload and that plus playing in Stillwater (we remember from Big 8 days) will a major challenge for a week 2 game, maybe even an upset special?

Portland State is a walkover in week 3 but wait for it.

Week 4 is USC in LA and then week five is UCLA in Autsen.

Oregon could be under .500 when we go to the West Coast and a very disrupted team, ripe for us to knock off.

Not to mention the injury factor of playing 4/5 all out games in the weeks before we come to see them.

Oregon will be favored in every game leading up to the NU game.

Yeah Boise State and OkState are lose-able games but each would be a massive upset.
Same with USC and UCLA.

To me their schedule is a good and bad thing … their schedule will test them prior to NU going to Eugene. Maybe they get beat up a bit but they will enter our game tested and prepared.

I hope NU presents a bit of a different offensive scheme that they will have not faced prior to our game.

Listened to some of a Carriker podcast last night; Crouch was a guest. Crouch said the definition of success this season should be reaching the playoffs. Which I get. But that’s a loooong way from where we left off last season.

Not saying how things will go, but IMO we have upgraded in coaching at D line, DC, OL.
Players/rooms, at WR OL, DL, QB, and LB.
Only potential downside is RB.
Can we make a push? We have to see what all this looks like.

Absolutely real.
If you believe in eight wins, you have to sneak one away from the "Big Boy".

After reading Lindys cover to cover, while Oregon rightly is a Top 5 team, their early season schedule is a potential minefield.
If OU comes out of the gate over confident, I could easily see them losing two games, maybe more, and coming into our game a confused and unsettled team ripe for us to upset them too.

I'd take this record. Why would beating Iowa be an upset. They will be a solid team like usual, but probably not close to undefeated. There is a lot of unknowns. OSU and Oregon will be good. You think Indiana will be good but they will be a young team compared to what they have been. Illinois lost a lot and will be breaking in a new QB. The media loves Washington, but as I have said before, they had a pretty soft schedule and beat no one with a pulse last year.

I think Iowa will by most pollsters be rated higher/better than NU. Possibly based on history but it’s almost a certainty that they will be a solid 8-ish win team this year.

Their schedule is interesting … starting in week 4 … @Michigan, tOSU, @Washington, bye, @Minnesota and Wisconsin. They play Purdue and Illinois prior to NU game.
 
Don't you wonder about Lyle and the Bobfather, both with a bourbon in hand looking down and wondering how their beloved program wandered to the this point?
Sigh.
