The Road to Eight Wins

I also think speed is essential especially at the LB position. Have guys who can get to a spot. I know we all would’ve preferred a few more DLine transfers but I think the staff countered that deficit by getting guys who can get downhill and get to the ball.

By my count we have 3 portal transfers coming in who can do as suggested.
I remember when we had LBs who were FAST. Guys like Farley, Johnson, Stewart, etc. Those guys could move.

That was one of the things that disturbed me about the Spring game. We look slow at almost every position, but especially on defense.

In the Big 12, you built your team on speed. In the Big 10, teams were built on size. Speed would tend to beat out size in a one-game matchup, which is why we used to boat race most Big 10 teams in a one game matchup. They couldn't keep up over 4 quarters. I remember handing the Big 10 a lot of beat downs, even after Osborne.

Of course, with the Big 10 being more bulk than speed, we had to re-tool to survive a full season when we joined. We never quite made it.

I think the mindset is finally settling in, it's not who you play, it's how well you play.
Certainly some teams will be harder to beat, but nothing is impossible mindset.
So they get things right and start playing well, 8 is very doable.

Last years staff was more Bud Light, missed the mark.
This years staff is up in the air yet, but appears improved at this point, more a Makers Mark scenario
Well if the anonymous coaches trifle per Athlon is correct, this might be a bad year coming up (5 or 6 wins). I lot more love for Raiola than I expected.

There's room for playmaking in the Big. Not to rely on it, just sprinkle it in. I see the other Raiola as being a plus, not an even scratch, but DH will know how to use AC's expanded game.

I just hope we don’t resurrect the 2001 Huskers where it was Crouch to the right, Crouch to the left, Crouch up the middle … rinse and repeat.

A Philadelphia Eagle Jalen Hurts style run game … occasionally … would be great. But not a total reliance.

I’m hopeful that our revamped OLine with our revamped coaching staff will be the foundation in which DH rests his offensive identity.

Did you read through all of them there wasn’t a lot of positives said about a lot of teams. Even Indiana had a lot of doubt.

They're likely very unsure of the current landscape. They can try to talk their competition down, but they know they still have to play them.
Keeping quiet and in house was a great move by MR imo, seems he's reading the landscape.
