The Good the bad and the Ugly Maryland edition.

Good:
  • Colandrea's legs. 108 yards on 11 carries.
  • D shut them down in the 2nd half. D has allowed only 10 points in 3rd qtr this season.
Bad:
  • Colandrea's arm. Way off, particularly in the 1st half. Worst passer rating (138) so far this year.
  • Zero points in the 3rd quarter. Continues to be our worst quarter. We've scored only 21 points in the 3rd quarter so far, 14 in the first game against Ohio. We've yet to score 3rd qtr points in conference play. Yep, zero against MSU, zero against Maryland.
  • Zero timeouts left on the last drive of the 1st half. Yes, we scored. Yes, it was a could drive. Would sure be nice to have a TO for insurance, especially since at least two TOs were essentially wasted.
Ugly:
  • Penalties. 'nuff said about that.
  • D seemed hapless against the no-huddle offense. Some better teams are going to take advantage of that.

Giving up the big running and pass plays for TDs was disappointing. But in past years we wouldn't have recovered from being down and couldn't have come back. We need to stop that. We are definitely a better team than we have seen in the past 10 years. We came back and won the turnover battle. Unfortunately, we also won the most penalties trophy which is reminiscent of past years.

Did you recognize the referee man wearing the white cap? Same guy who did the Michigan vs. Western Michigan! That game was led by referee Jim Wharrie, a former Pac-12 official who joined the Big Ten.

I think Cunanan is 0-3 from the 50+ range, so I'm with @cthusker: I hope we don't need to win it from that range. He was 16 of 19 last year. I don't remember if he hit any from that distance in 2025.
Cunnan was 16-19 last year.

5-5 from 20 to 29 yards
9-9 from 30 to 39
1-3 from 40 to 49
1-2 from 50+

With a long of 52 yards

I feel like adjustments were made at half. Even if but Xs and Os. Just execution/fire whatever. Things changed at half and I’ll credit coaches for resisting them.
No. Adjustments were made in-half to start the second quarter. We got out scored 16-7 and out yarded 209-38 the first quarter. 2nd quarter we out scored them 21-7 and out yarded them 157-97. Their 97 yards included a 58 yard scramble by the quarterback and zero passing yards.

As far as I know we didn’t sustain any bug injuries this game.

Maybe I’m nuts, but I’m actually pleased with a game like this setting up next week. The team had to overcome adversity and not playing their best. The penalties were a problem, but I also think that officiating crew was an anomaly.

We have a team that was able to come out and bury a Big 10 opponent after one of the worst quarters they could have played.

The defense got burned in some mistakes. But they also looked legitimate when people didn’t blow a coverage. I saw safeties misjudge interceptions or take angles that underestimated the speed of the player. Better to learn from those mistakes now and come out humble and hungry against Indiana.

I like coming into next week as the clear underdog. I think the Huskers will be very coachable this week. I don’t see national hypers going crazy predicting upsets. But from what I’ve seen from Indiana I think this is a winnable game.

The ugly - the announcer. I don’t know what his name is, but the guy from Ohio State was just plain annoying.
He was a running back from Ohio State. I had the volume low when I watched it. We always get the “b” announcers. We have to earn the quality guys and quality networks. I don’t know his name ….. cause I don’t care

The fly over was really good.
Couple F16's or something.
That was fun.
Watched them fly around over Lincoln earlier in the day.
Awesome!
I live out in the country about 25 miles north of the stadium. When we have a home game flyover, the aircraft circle directly over our house several times before heading to Lincoln. I always go outside to watch it at least a couple of times:Salute:

Maybe teams should have right of refusal for who the ref is. "We would prefer not him."

I was not bothered by anything they said. Bit it was definitely the B or maybe C production crew. There was at least 6 or 8 times I really wanted to see a replay and there wasn’t one shown at all. You could hear the crowd react to the in stadium replays. It was frustrating.
