The Good the bad and the Ugly Maryland edition.

Why are 2 of your categories negative? Bad and ugly…. We all saw that. But the good was good and beautiful! The opposite of ugly…anyway, was an enjoyable day after a confounding and ugly start!!!

I like lists, so I'll assemble mine here (with some repeats).

The Good:
* The final score!
* We're getting better in late quarters instead of wilting. I hesitate to say it because I'm not sure how good our competition has been to date, but it seems we're winning the size and conditioning battle like in the old days.
* Colandrea as a run threat. When the team (and even himself) needed it, he extended drives.
* Defense for the most part, except the first quarter.
* The team didn't get down, regrouped, and executed.
* Rhule's approach -- in his post game he talked about not looking at the score, just wanted to keep the team focused on game plane, fundamentals, and execution. He was confident it would win out in the later quarters.

The Bad:
* The first quarter and the defensive miscues. Can't have that the next several weeks.
* Colandrea's throws - more were off mark than usual and we might have scored in the 60's if they were on target. He owned up to in the post game, and I wonder of it is related to the runs and the hits he took as the game went on.
* Two missed kicks -- caused as much by errant snaps/holds as by the kicker. Can't have that in tight games.

The Ugly
* Penalties. Maybe some were bad officiating, but not all. Can't be sloppy against elite competition.

Go Big Red!

It was the worst of half it was the best of half.

The Good The D in the second half. The D played shut down football the second half. Just an amazing effort against some talent on the other side. Calandreas legs pretty much held up the offense on a night we needed it.

The bad: I know i will get some pushback on this but our D gave up way too much in the forst half. The one WR had over 100 yards ib the first qtr. Our first half plus the third qtr passing game. Through the first 3 qtrs. AC was off on his passes. First he was too high than he clearly made an adjustment and was too low.

The Ugly: Other than AC. our running game was pretty pitiful. Especially the first half. I think we ended with 14 penalties. We gotta clean that up. .
I said it last week. I will take an ugly win over a pretty loss.
Just got done watching it as I am traveling. Was on Broadway Street in Nashville for the whole game.
You are spot on with everything. It’s AMAZING that we had the lead at halftime.
Penalties were pathetic (they thinking of next week - distracted ?).
Spot on with the D second half. 95 yards allowing with a good chunk on their last drive.
Excellent offense forth qtr
Nelson ran hard …. Mozzie is just getting better every week. Love to see it
Gilmore. Wow BEST WR PERFORMANCE SINCE PALMER I WOULD SPECULATE.

Just getting done watching the first half. I wasn’t able to watch live today and I know who wins. This first half was embarassing. In several of the coming game, this game is long over. I’d love to be pleased with the coming 2nd half, but the first half was so bad, how could you possibly be? The penalities alone are completely unacceptable..but how many years have we watched Husker teams do this?

I’m not overly optimistic about the rest of the season. A bowl game should happen, but are we going to see measurable improvement, overall? Minnesota beats Michigan at home for the first time in decades. Do you see such a win in this team’s future? I still don’t see a win again a ranked team ahead for Nebraska.

You might want to watch the 2nd half and get back to us.

Or just read through every single post in the game thread.
;)

I don’t mind Rhule trying … the kick had enough distance … just off the mark a little.
I think Cunanan is 0-3 from the 50+ range, so I'm with @cthusker: I hope we don't need to win it from that range. He was 16 of 19 last year. I don't remember if he hit any from that distance in 2025.
