The Dana Holgorsen Effect

Hologersen or not. It's tough to win when you score 0 points in the 2nd half. The defensive effort was outstanding except for one play with 3 missed tackles. Special teams is still a work in progress. Particularly the long snapping. Buschini was lucky to get the snap down at all. We'll see if the next 15 practices can help our execution and consistency.

Ohio State will agree with the bold.

This team has been up and down all year, no consistency. Make Ohio State and Colorado look bad, make Iowa and others look better than they are. So many games this year we've played a good half but not a whole game. That has to be one of the most frustrating things for the coaching staff, figuring out why they can play great for one half or one drive, and then just fall apart for the next.

I said it was too late for DH to have a big impact on this season with only 3 games left. I hope we keep him but he was still tied to other staff and players. We were never going to beat USC on the road. Wiscy was a nice get and the Iowa game was there for the taking. The plays were there—-we just lacked effort across the board on offense.

What was the Holgersen effect against USC n Iowa? I wasn't impressed in either game. I was with the outcome against Wisconsin.
Considering he was around for about 1-1/2 weeks and didn't know the players or the playbook . . . are you really surprised/unimpressed with the USC game? What was he going to get done in that time to make huge changes? Watching the game, I do think the offense had more of a plan and they looked more confident. The points weren't there, but you could see glimpses. Have to start with some basics, simplify, etc.

Wisconsin . . . great game. Offense looked even better and they hit a bunch of plays. DH's best game so far. And the players made the plays that were there.

Iowa? I've said it multiple times, but if you watch the game with an open mind . . . you'll see that a lot of plays were there. They just weren't made. Raiola just overthrows a WR that would have scored. He missed a TE (didn't see him or didn't throw it) for another TD. Neyor was going to have a big gainer and maybe score--was all alone and dropped a ball that was perfect and right to his hands. Especially early on, the offense looked pretty confident and sharp in operations.

Also, Iowa's defense is pretty darn good and it was a freezing game. And we tend to have low scoring games against them. You can hate the score and the outcome (I know I do), but still see where things are coming together. Give DH those bowl practices and, hopefully, a full spring and offseason and then make some judgments, IMHO. He's the best OC we've had in a really long time from his history. I want to see what he can do with the right amount of time.

Three missed tackles and an illegal block in the back.

Either way we are 1-2 with Holgersen. White is gone so don't expect much better W-L record next year! I'm at the point that I'll believe it when I see it!
I've been that way for years. Don't listen to the media, don't believe the hype, wait until you see it on the field.
