What negotiation though? Houston is on the hook for most of his salary. He either wants to be here or he doesn’t.
Rhule is either treading lightly out of respect for Satterfield or he isn’t.
These aren’t the normal negotiations we see due to his payout with Houston.
Actually nobody knows what was in his contract with Houston concerning his payout. Rhule's negotiations to come here weren't normal because of his Carolina contract. What negotiation though? Houston is on the hook for most of his salary. He either wants to be here or he doesn’t.

For me I'd rather see everyone thinking about Iowa until Friday, then we can think about the future.
I have waited All year on the Haarberg runs to see him run the downline option then drop back and throw it to a wide open receiver just like our running QB's of the past did. Maybe Coach Holgersen will call that special number on Friday and we can all celebrateThat's what we WANT people to think...
I don't follow recruiting so I don't know: what's Satterfield's contribution to pulling in quality recruits?I’ve been thinking about this as well and think there are two likely drivers.
1) Rhule wanted to make sure it would work with Holgorsen before they locked him in. Makes sense to me. He saw enough in the first few days of him being on campus to make the change to OC, but now we’ve got our best overall offensive performance of the year, bowl eligibility and one game left to let Holgorsen show his wares. I get that mindset, but I have to think Rhule is already talking to him about the future, we just haven’t seen the other shoe drop yet.
2) Deference to Satterfield. He’s already publicly stoned Satterfield with the demotion, but I believe he’s waiting until after the Iowa game to make his departure from the program and Holgorsen’s addition for next season (and likely beyond) official. Let’s Holgorsen dive in to recruiting (which is his weak link IMO) and allows him a full bowl prep cycle to implement more of what he wants to do in the future.
If it doesn’t happen this weekend, I’d suspect Monday. If that doesn’t happen, I’d say Holgorsen isn’t looking for the long term gig. I don’t get that feeling from him, but I don’t know him and can only go off of what I see in the pressers.

Not this Friday, though.Just like every time Haarberg is in, he's going to run the ball.
With regard to recruiting, under the new coaching rules removing limits on the number of coaches, isn't it possible for DH to be offensive coordinator, but not be one of the coaches who can recruit off campus?
I think it was Rivals that used to show who the lead recruiters were. But I cannot seem to find it on their new look website. Obviously it is not fool proof and left up to the editor. I am sure Satterfield has been involved in recruiting but I don't believe he has been very successful. Maybe I am wrong on this one. Either way, IMPO coaching at this level is more important than recruiting.I don’t know how much he actually did to land a few of the NU recruits he’s credit with, but Nelson, Kaelin, Bell, Lloyd and Davidson are listed as his ‘gets’.
He’s also got a few on the defensive side of the ball, which I think is partially geographic.
The comment I made about Holgorsen is really more about his desire to recruit. I’d heard that both his WVU and Houston head coaching tenures were pretty spotty from a ‘want to’ standpoint.
Edit: I would also add that the comment was less a comparison to Satterfield in that regard as a statement on what I’ve heard regarding Holgorsen. As a former two time D1 head coach, who’s put multiple offensive players in the NFL and had much more successful offenses statistically, Holgorsen’s name alone likely moves the needle more than Satt could.

Edit: Nope, I stand corrected, it is 247. But you now have to click on the recruit to see who they list as the lead recruiter.
Agree with your post. Maybe DH recruiting isn't his strength, but putting up W's and an offense effective can make up his deficiencies in that area? GBRI’ve been thinking about this as well and think there are two likely drivers.
