Hm. I see Dylan Raiola’s personal improvement as a key factor in whether this team improves next season. It would be rather odd, if Dylan fails to make a big jump in his own level of success, that he would jump ship and blame all the team’s failures on “the rest of the team”. At some point, he is going to have to show that he can live up to the hype. Until he can demonstrate he can carry a team on his shoulders, (at least the offense) and actually score points consistently, I’m not going to worry about other teams stealing him away.IMO, Our team needs to improve greatly in this next season In order for Raiola to stay at NU. If we have another 6-6 or 6-7 season teams are going to try to get him to transfer to them with the promise of NIL $ and a better team and he will probably consider transferring more seriously.
Of course he has to perform better too!

I called up Rhule and offered to do it for half. He promised I'd get NIL.

If you look at the Stats from DR he was an ok QB last year. Yes he was a true Freshman so there is a ton of potential. But lets be real, his average YPG was pretty pedestrian. He was no threat to run, and really he needs to improve a lot. Our schedule should set up nicely next year. Anything less then 9 wins IMO would be underwhelming.
I would have to agree. I dont think Dom wants to see his son commit to play for NU then go somewhere else. I think he could throw his hat in the NFL ring after a couple more seasons but he is really going to have to improve his stats.
I’m amazed at the number of people on this board who have the opinion that DR is not truly “committed” to this program. He could have gone elsewhere but came here. When he came, he stated his commitment to turning the program around as a reason for coming. His father played here and his uncle is a current coach. Yet people suggest that he has one eye on the exit, so if the team struggles, DR will immediately jump ship. DR is not living in a vacuum. His departure would send a shockwave message to the world that the situation ar Nebraska is hopeless, INCLUDING THE COACHING ABILITY OF HIS UNCLE!! I find it hard to believe DR is as selfish as some have portrayed him in this thread.
I suppose there are some unlikely scenarios that could cause DR to leave, such as fans booing every time he enters the field, or fans attacking the Raiola family, or DR failing and being replaced as the starter. Perhaps even leaving for the draft would be a possibility if his personal performance improves significantly from last year’s numbers. But I have not seen a single piece of evidence that DR is the kind of person who would blame his teammates for team failures and figuratively stab his uncle during a rush to the exit.

I agree with this. Everything is in flux until the rules are changed.

Does he have the work ethic? Yes
Des he have the knowledge? Yes.
Will he get better? Yes.
Better supporting cast and coaching? Looks like both starting this year. Not saying 16-0, but damn, we should wing at least 9-10?.
Yes, I found out that his supporting cast was mediocre as the season went on. Before the season started it seemed like we had the weapons only to find out we apparently didn’t. He is going to have to show that he is what everyone said he would be. Apparently, he needed a better supporting cast. But when you have guys open deep, you need to hit them on the numbers. If you consistently miss the throws, it’s on you.
We should have won 9-10 last year. But somehow, we just “found a way”. Is this the year they make a big leap forward? No idea. For all practical purposes, in this new age of college football, the team is a brand new team every year. We won’t know what to expect until we see if our upgraded WR’s are better than last year’s upgraded WR’s at getting open. Hopefully, DH’s experience will be the secret sauce that makes this all work.
Sorry for being a Debbie downer, but I watched the last couple weeks of Nebraska men’s basketball. It’s hard to be optimistic after watching that end of season meltdown.
