Now this I disagree with. it isn't the fans that caused this, not at all.... imo
I am also not saying it is 18-22 years old fault.. the little fish didn't cause this, the big fish did.

My personal opinion is it’s ruined by the people actually involved with it Administrators, coaches, and politicians. They make these rules in high school and college without any accountability or forethought. The fans have very little control.
We were demanding more televised games, and the networks responded with more televised games. That's when the money really exploded. The majority of fans were screaming for a playoff, and we got 2, then 4, now 12. All that does is increase the revenue even more.
Fans definitely deserve blame in this by creating this monster. The incompetence and mismanagement part falls on the NCAA, administrators, etc.

I never had a sense that fans were "demanding" more televised games. More like networks saw an easy revenue stream, dangled more games in front of our eyes, and we took the bait. Now we're hooked and there's no going back.
I agree fans demanded playoffs but that was more about wanting to determine a national champion on the field rather than in the press box. There were legit observations about teams getting left out of the conversation for whatever reasons.
Where we can blame fans, IMO, is their falling for changes to the game made at the behest of networks to fit broadcast schedules and maximize advertising, in the name of making the game more exciting.
The NCAA has definitely failed administering college football. I'd love to know why that is.
1. They are incompetent.
2. It’s (college football) is a complex organism that is constantly changing.
3. There is lots of money involved but those in charge of making and enforcing the rules are (thankfully) not involved in much of that.
4. Because of the money and how it effects the administrators, the coaches, the boosters and now even the players the NCAA was placed in a position of responsibility and accountability without really having the the authority to regulate. While the NCAA could suspend or place on probation a player, a coach or a program. The top 40-60 schools have always had the power to “suspend” the NCAA or frankly, eliminate the NCAA and go off in their own direction.
Nebraska is always click-bait - we wring our hands over every little story down to whether the waterboy kept the water cold enough on the sideline.
