Part of me wants to believe this is clickbait another part of me says this is why players should be employees under contract with severe buyout clauses.
If Nebraska coaches know for certain this is going on, they absolutely should report it to the NCAA. They have the ultimate witness, no?
If they know for certain it is NOT going on, they should sanction Washut.
The last part of me sides with N Iowa coach Farley and say, it's out of control, screw it, I'm done.

The most popular college sports need to be spun out of the universities because balancing academic and athletic requirements is impossible. Big-time players should get opportunities that normal students don't receive, but the NCAA and athletic programs can't create a fair system for compensation and management because it would violate students' rights. The financial pressures are too strong to keep a monumental change from happening, but the process for getting there is going to be ugly.

If its spun out of the universities then it is not longer a college sport though. That's ultimately my issue. I agree the money has created have problems and it's unfair for athletes to not be compensated. I don't know what the answer is.
 
If mostly true, whatever that means, is this a case where there other teams doing their “due diligence” to flip and recruit a player as has always happened OR more akin to our QB moving around to find greener pastures as he did every year in High School? As a NU coach, I’d be more worried about the later and maintaining stability at the QB spot. Very curious overall the crux of this part of the situation. We will all know in time. GBR
 
College football is in a surreal place. Matt Rhule, with his multi million dollar contract (I'm too lazy to look it up and I'm going golfing as soon as I finish here) Is depending on a teenager for his job security. Raiola's uncle has job security, that is certain. But I agree with the post that encourages signing these kids to a contract. I've posted this before and it is inevitable. Sooner or later the system in place will evolve to reflect what it is. The players are professionals in the context of they are getting paid for performing a service. Officials are probably afraid of all of the implications that would bring though. Not all players are paid the same and probably some aren't paid anything. (Remember that old chestnut...The Love of the Game?) Raiola should be contracted for 4yrs. But then some players would only be offered a 1 or 2 yr contract. That would be weird. I don't have all of the answers but what is in place now merely reflects a point in evolution, not where it ends.

The letter of intent was the contract at one time and the player had to get the coach to sign off on his release but that was too much people said, so that had to go then it was one free transfer ok so that's cool NOPE it had to be free unlimited transfers and NIL which is a slippery hill if there ever was one and now its recruiting a player each and every day while trying to coach a team and game plan because if Jimmy doesn't get enough plays his way well he's out of here. Its no wonder some head coaches have just given up and gone to the pros as a coordinator.
