So far, 5 of the 6 teams to qualify were in the top 8 national seeds. Only Cal was a non-national seed taking the spot for Rice.

Today, the #1 national seed Virginia and #5 seed Florida St. play in elimination games. Should they both win, the NCAA committee will look pretty smart.

With 2 Super Regional games remaining, here is an update of Conference records so far of conferences with at least 3 teams. The SEC is beginning to demonstrate it's power and the Pac10 took a hit in losing 3 teams in this round, whereas the SEC has 3 in out of the 6 spots claimed.

SEC (7 teams) 25-9
Pac10 (6) 21-11
ACC (7) 20-10
Big12 (6) 12-12
Conference USA (4) 4-8
Big East (3) 6-7
Atlantic Sun (3) 5-6
Sun Belt (3) 1-6

Pretty much a pitcher's battle so far in the VA-UCI game with UCI having 2 hits through 3 innings and Virginia threatening but scattering 4 hits.

edit: In the top of the 4th, UCI scores with a double, a sacrifice and a groundout to take a 1-0 lead.
