Stronger and Leaner

And nobody said they weren't stronger then as well....maybe it is a progression?
So let me ask you this. What was your physical maturity progression through your high school years. Pretty dramatic right? Now let’s look at it from a high school athlete perspective ….. obviously the freshmen and sophomore are little sticks compared to the juniors and seniors. That’s called physical maturity. Then the jump to college is a huge one. Of course of course there are exception to every rule. But generally the gap is huge. So now imagine if your team was made up mostly of freshmen and redshirt freshmen just starting on their developmental path. Now jump 2 or 3 years in the future with now a lot of time with the SC AND NUTRITION PROGRAMS. The progression to physical maturity is clear. And it’s only going to get better. And hopefully this leads to better performance overall as a team

That's just a unrealistic option. Could he say less? Sure. But head coach at Nebraska is going to have microphone in his face regularly. Rhule is out there in the media more than some others we've had, but that's part of how he does things.

We all want them to just win and be better than they have been. He can't get up there and say, "Well, I just hope we aren't mediocre again this year..."
I think through the summer MR has said less, why? Not sure myself, but he has some new coaches and more experience in critical areas. OL is the best example, with a new coach and experience we haven't had in recent times. A defense with a new coordinator and some key players coming back!

Hopefully the experience will help, as we have 69% of our production back from last year. Yes, we will find out soon as the season is closer than we think! We need to see improvement in all aspects of N football, even with the tough schedule ahead of us!

The offensive line is bigger and definitely more experienced with improvement in the Red Zone and the ability( not there last season) to throw down field and a mobile QB this team could win 9 games.

He said in the off-season. So this was suppose to be about since spring ball.

That’s part of the progression. Probably the most important of the year.
When they say stacking days they mean stacking days. Every practice, every workout , every film session are stacked. On top of each other. So when the core of your team has now three, four years of stacked days …….That’s a lot of days…… of course we are going through more coaching transition again. My gut feeling is that this will be the most impactful change since Ruhle was hired both offensively (especially OL) and defensively. Man super impressed with Aurich. Love this guy GBR

I remember when Banker went and started coaching the safeties how the D responded.
Some things are just needed to do

I think his initial assistant pool was around $8M. And I think he tried to save money to maybe put it elsewhere? Not sure but year one was basically year zero because of that
That was my recollection as well. IIRC, he spent about 2/3 of that $8M. I remember thinking, dang, coach, get spend the cash and get some good assistants in here for a change.

I understand that they all make these comments to some degree. But....Rhule is Nebraska's head coach now....read the room Coach. The majority don't want to hear this, Win. Have your Dline and Oline play well and stop talking.
The majority of who? Did you take a poll? He shared some info, no one was disappointed beyond some sensitive types who sit on the edge of their seats just waiting for something to complain about. What would be acceptable? What exactly should he talk about that wouldn't trigger some of the fans who can't go a day without complaining about something?

Not to mention some new bodies in the program. Comments have been made about the new linebackers, maybe a safety, and the new running back. Couple that with just the normal benefits of becoming more physically mature. I heard one person mentioning Gunner, and how he looked more like a B1G player than he did previously...as a freshman playing a position he was forced to step into.

Not everyone played in the spring. And I think guys forget what life was like when many of us were young. We didn't workout year round like players do now. You'd see people change their bodies in a few months with preseason workouts and practicing everyday. Guys 'looked' different from the team picture at the beginning of the season, than they did at the end of the season.

Those new portal players gained quite a bit

Dude, chill out. Apparently I should have used the sarcasm sign.

So what do you want Matt Rhule to say when the mic is in his face and he's asked about the program? This?

"Look, we aren't trying to be great here; we're just aiming to be perfectly, uncomfortably mediocre."
