Stronger and Leaner

Last years D was uncharacteristic of a MR D. MR went after our DC in season, and rightfully so.
Imagine last year if we could have stopped the run instead of being 118th doing so?
JB was a huge disappointment, shows he's not DC material, not top DC material for sure.
Lets see what Aurich brings, as our offense is going to be better,

I also think Rhule recognized his mistake in that he brought in young coaches to groom before he had the systems in place to groom them. Looking back I still shake my head at the McGuire hire.

I'd say both, Raiola had the worst pressure to sack ratio in the country (33%) and Holgorsen had to call plays to cater to that. I think Dylan's immobility had a large impact on how effective Holgorsen could call plays

I think his initial assistant pool was around $8M. And I think he tried to save money to maybe put it elsewhere? Not sure but year one was basically year zero because of that

And shows why the Bills passed over him for the job. He did nothing but tell Rhule he needed better players (as if it was the NFL) instead of understanding it was his job to make those players better

There is no doubt this staff felt a bit relieved to have a mobile QB, just reading between the lines during their comments after DR's departure. But this team completely fell apart after DR was injured. Not sure how this is all going to play out.

Couple things, they got better and better on how to hammer our D, and we had a rookie QB.
Not a great spot to be in late in the season.
 
I’m cool with that. If they’ve added speed and maintained the size, or in some areas gotten bigger, then this will be a good thing. Won’t know anything until Michigan State, and not because they are good but because they are the first road game. Win that, and we could have something. Seems I heard a word I haven’t heard in a long time as well, meaner. That word alone matters. When is the last time you saw NU mean and nasty? 2009, 2010?

I understand that they all make these comments to some degree. But....Rhule is Nebraska's head coach now....read the room Coach. The majority don't want to hear this, Win. Have your Dline and Oline play well and stop talking.

Again, m y take, after thee summer down time for the coaches, I think MR, who often chooses the media for certain messaging, did this here to show the team he was happy with the results.
He has to tell all his coaches, including S&C, job well done, as he went down the names to give credit where it was due, including nutrition etc.
So maybe not for the fans, other than to mention others the fans otherwise wouldnt know about.

That will be proven or disproven this year. A lot will be revealed this year I think. I agree with you 100% tho

A majority of them were freshmen and redshirt freshmen. For Pete’s sake let them grow and mature. We have way more three year and four year guys now vs what we had …… “like 2 years ago”

And nobody said they weren't stronger then as well....maybe it is a progression?

That's just a unrealistic option. Could he say less? Sure. But head coach at Nebraska is going to have microphone in his face regularly. Rhule is out there in the media more than some others we've had, but that's part of how he does things.

We all want them to just win and be better than they have been. He can't get up there and say, "Well, I just hope we aren't mediocre again this year..."
