Special Teams coach

It could be that Rhule will just use other members of the staff to manage special teams. I'm honestly not sure how they've managed things the past two seasons, but it's possible that having the offensive and defensive coaches involved more could create a different sense of responsibility.

Hey defense, want to pin teams deep? Get off good punts and kicks, and cover well.

Hey offense, want to start drives with better field position? Get the punt and kick return units in shape.

Ok, but does anyone think he won’t have a coach in place for Spring ball? We have our specialists (including a portal deep snapper and portal punter) in place for next season. I fail to see any downside to announcing this in the next month or two. I just want him to hire someone who understands how to coach special teams, some depth of knowledge and the ability to get the players to do it on the field.
My understanding is by the start of mat drills if not before.

I don’t see how he could call for a “complete overhaul” of special teams, then cobble together a joint coaching effort. No, there will be an accountable coordinator in charge.

I would believe if Rhule said, “I’m going to run special teams.” A lot of good head coaches have done so. But if he were planning to do that, I think we’d have already heard that. He’ll announce his guy, maybe after the NFL season is over.

I think it's probably likely that he'll have a coordinator, but it's possible that he won't. In today's new era of unlimited coaches, I guess it's no big deal to throw a few hundred thousand a year at another coach.

AKA coaches job fair.....

ps. their website coder is not good. when you click the link it takes you to the page that clearly states 2025, charlotte

I can't imagine Coach Rhule would have removed Coach Foley from his ST duties unless he already had a new ST coach lined up ready to go. That's just not his MO. I'm pretty sure the deal's already done with somebody, and we're just waiting for their season and/or contract to end before pulling the trigger.

Couldnt agree more, every move that Coach has made, personnel wise, he had a fairly immediate solution for. So it seems pretty certain that he had this well planned out, and has a better than avg solution ready. I'd be stunned if he didnt
