Sort of hunting

I believe (?) they kill more people in Africa than all other big game combined.

I had a neighbor a number of years ago who was a Rep for Remington and had been on a number of hunting safaris in Africa. His house looked like a big game museum.

His hippo stories were terrifying.

He would say "Imagine getting hit by a Toyota Sequoia going 35 MPH".

Nasty nasty suckers.

Yep, totally opposite of what I learned/thought about hippos as a kid.

I just thought they were hungry hungry.

The rams in my original post are all gone so I saved back some to start over with new rams.

Had a guy call me that bought a weanling ram in 2022 and a yearling ram in 2024. He said the first ram had gotten mean and couldn't be trusted, it killed the yearling ram and tears up gates and fence. I advised him to get rid of it so he didn't get hurt, and told him I had one ram lamb left from this spring so I'd give him that one to replace the others. That will be the third ram I've sold the last few years that has gotten so mean they can't be trusted. Guess that's why you never turn your back on a ram. Well maybe these little guys, but by fall and breeding season I'd keep ay eye on them once in with the ewes.

This is why you don’t kill black snakes/ king snakes. King snakes are constrictors and resistant to copperhead, rattlesnake, and cottonmouth venom, which is precisely why venomous snakes are easy prey for them. They can easily overpower SC/NC’s venomous species.
