We already have one, Alexis Jensen. She is *clearly* the #1 SP going into next season. That kid is already very, very good. I was really impressed with her skills and mental makeup this postseason. The big thing she needs to work on this offseason is the “gopher ball.” She allowed 22-23 HR this season.

Coach Rhonda doesn’t necessarily need to try to get “the next Jordy,” or even a proven #1 SP because Alexis will (hopefully) not be going anywhere. She just needs somebody who’s good enough that the Huskers aren’t forced to do what Oklahoma State had to do quite often this year, start Ruby Meylan on back to back days.

Anybody know anything about the incoming HS recruiting class? In addition to any incoming HS pitchers, Kylee Magee will be a senior next season. Because of Jordy, Alexis and Hannah, Magee was only was asked to pitch 21 innings this season, but the kid does have skills. She made the PAC-12 All Freshman team in 2023.

Lastly, I fully acknowledge this question is nuts…but is there any way Nebraska could make a legit argument that Jordy should get another year? She only pitched 2.1 innings in her first game as a Husker. I presume she took a “regular” redshirt year when she got injured. There are multiple football players who have gotten (multiple) medical hardship years for injuries. If Jordy wants to come back, couldn’t Nebraska argue she should get a medical hardship year for 2022-23?

Lastly, I want to see Kennadi get a shot at more playing time next season. That kid is *realiy* fast. Which is, of course, why she’s the first PR off the bench. She’s never
Kennadi plays Basketball and gets a good amount of court time and remember her mother is the HC so yeah a little extra goes in to the BB season, so she is not part of the winter / spring softball training and the season has already started by the time the WBB is knocked out of the NCAA tounry so her being a major player probably will not happen but she has a role and does well in that role

Has anyone heard any news? If I remember correctly, we need a RF, SS, for sure.

Lost RHP Kylee Magee and C/Utility Olivia DiNardo. I don’t want to say these departures are no big deal, because every player contributes even if it’s “only” in practice. But Nebraska’s positioned to withstand the two departures. Both Kylee and Olivia are going to be seniors, so they want to go somewhere they’re likely to get more playing time.

IMO, next year Jensen and Freshman Cali Bentz will be the top two starting pitchers. Bentz will, I think, greatly benefit from having Jordy as an assistant coach, and having Jensen to talk to about the transition from HS/club to college softball. Jesse Farrell will be the #1 C, with Redshirt sophomore Carli Mulbach backing her up.

No word yet on anybody transferring in. With Magee and DiNardo gone, I believe the roster’s at 16 players for next season, including the incoming freshmen.

Coach better look at hitting. Lack of it cost in the WCWS.

IMO, the problem is, nationally, the best softball programs likely have much more NIL $$ than Coach Revelle does. UT’s going to usually be good, so is OU, and they’ll have $ because they’re in the SEC. SInce TTU’s got donors like Corey Campbell they’ll probably have $ to reload, so I don’t think they’ll necessarily drop off next year. UCLA’s got money, and being in LA they’re positioned to offer more NIL opportunities than Nebraska. The fact UCLA’s so good may even be a factor in why the “other” B1G school in LA doesn’t even play softball.

Coach Revelle’s strategy of relying on the dominant pitching we’ve already got (Jensen), and trying to get some hitting from HS recruiting, may be the way the Huskers “have” to go. The number of players who came back from other P4/P5 schools was an anomaly. They wanted to play with Jordy. I’m definitely not saying she can’t or won’t be college softball’s next pitching superstar, (especially because she’s already *very* good athletically, and IMO her personality/mental makeup once she steps on the field is also elite already…I’m never not going to love it when she strikes a batter out and turns around like, “Yeah, I’m bad, and I know it!” ) but Jensen doesn’t have that “I want to play with her and I’m going to leave an SEC school to do it!” recruiting influence just yet.

In case anybody can’t tell, Jensen’s now among my favorite Husker female athletes ever..joining the graduated Callin Hake, Jaz, Issie, Alexis Markowski, and current Huskers Allison Weidner and Kennadi. Given Kennadi’s speed and baserunning, I still really wanna know why her teammates named her the Husker Most Likely to Trip Over First Base. That was a really fun social media post this year. Lol

Many of the women’s and Olympic sports powerhouses have more $ overall that they can spread around to multiple teams in their athletic department. That money issue going to regularly be a potential problem for every Husker team, but especially for teams other than football and men’s basketball.
