Pro-bowl is more of a popularity contest. Many NFL teams don't even know about Lavonte, he's not a big name (yet) and plays on a bad team.
 

Pro Bowl should go away. Have a nice dinner and one day meet and greet with fans for those first team all pro selections to sign autographs. The game itself should not be played. Every all pro still gets a bonus if it is in their contract but avoid any chance of injury, unless they decide to go surfing.
 
The Pro Bowl participants are decided by a vote by the fans, players, and coaches (one-third for each). And the fans have the right/ability to stuff the ballot box, as there are no limits to # of votes. Being that Tampa Bay was such a horrible team this season, not many even had the opportunity to get to know David to vote for him.

Also note, 20+ players will not play in the Pro Bowl, due to playing in the Super Bowl the following weekend, or the many who simply opt out because of injury (or in some cases, "injury"). When this happens, David will be asked to serve as a replacement and will, indeed, play in this season's Pro Bowl.
 



Lavonte David is a complete stud. He is one of only four players in NFL history with 100 tackles, 5 sacks, and 5 interceptions. How hard is this to do? Wilbur Marshall did it twice, and the other two only did it once--Rodney Harrison and Brian Urlacher. Lavonte finished with 145 tackles, 6 sacks, and 5 interceptions, and had Gerald McCoy not been flagged for a personal foul, he would have been credited with his 6th pick of the year. He is in elite company for sure, and at 23 years old, he will get even better.

Exactly. David will most definitely be selected as replacement in the Pro Bowl. It's just a different group of voters and akin to winning the Heisman but not the Maxwell.
 
I am guessing that if you polled most NFL players, they would rather be voted to ALL- PRO team than get to go play in the Pro bowl. Both are honors but the pro bowl has turned into more of a circus than it has ever been. Congrats on your AP all pro selection LD, you are a beast!
 




If I was a player I'd come down with a paper cut or hang nail to get out of playing in the Pro Bowl. Nothing good can come of playing in that game.
