I was at a local hardware store a couple of weeks ago and found these smoker bags filled with alder chips. They were $3-4 bucks or so. i think they had other wood as well.
We got some really nice salmon and I thought that was the perfect time to try it out. Best grilled salmon I ever made. 15-20 minutes in the bag with whatever marinade you like and you get a nice smoky flavor without a huge time investment.
