Five potential candidates to be Wisconsin's next AD

The Wisconsin Badgers have made it clear they want to find a new athletic director this summer.

Unlike a candidate like Beth Goetz at Iowa, there's a real chance Eichorst would seriously consider an offer from Wisconsin. He's shown tremendous loyalty at Texas, but the Wisconsin native is a former athletic director in the Big Ten, after all.

Returning to not only the conference but also his home state would be a huge power move. Eichorst would likely fire Luke Fickell in a heartbeat, and that would likely be a polarizing move to kick off his tenure as AD.

In fairness he has spent quite a few years at Texas, probably trying to reinvent himself. He was the AAD in charge of football. His background at Miami, NU, and Texas makes himself a quality candidate on paper.

I hope UW fails and this move would be delightful as part of that process.

He is from the Alvarez tree which I’m not sure is good or bad. It will be interesting to see how he does with an athletic program that is not as cash heavy as Texas. Will also be interesting to see how basketball and hockey does with him at the helm.

Eichorst is a fool. The decision to hire Mike Riley has to rank up there with one of the most foolish hires in big time football. Frost turned out to be a bad hire, but at least on paper, that was a good hire at the time. Riley was never going to be a good hire here. Eichorst will never live down that hire in my book. Wisconsin is about to go sideways for several years.

Also, have it on a very good source, that Bo absolutely blames Eichorst for his departure from Nebraska. I'm sure that doesn't surprise anyone, but my source got it straight from him.

This underscores just how quickly things can head south in an organization with iffy leadership.
