Satterfield is a weak a$$ OC.
We get a 5-star QB, and you just throw screens with him? You couldn't do that with say, Kaelin, or Haarburg?
I realized these are exaggerations, but his playcalling is mystifying. Rhule needs Satterfield to raise his game tremendously the rest of the way.

If it's them, or him, that's an easy choice.
Look what him not having to be hamstrung by Satterfield has done to his production.
You think firing an OC during the season would send NU over the cliff? You do know we have a second OC on staff, right?
Are OC's just plug and play?
Maybe it works out, maybe it doesn't. I don't think it's going to make a big positive difference this year and I think the risk of doing worse is bigger than the reward of it working out better.
There are times to fire a coordinator mid-season for sure. I'm just not certain we're there.
He was hired as a CO-OC for a reason, do we normally hire OC's that are not competent?
No arguement as far as knowing if NU is there or not, but for me, I would give him one more game, then replace him. We have a second OC, that Rhule thought was good enough to be named co-oc, so use him. Maybe don't fire Satt now, but give the second guy the play calling duties to see how he does, then at the end go with the best one.
I could get on board with moving play calling duties now. I just have to imagine Rhule/Thomas have a HUGE hand in game prep and even calls at this point. But those screen calls say otherwise.
Is continuing to put Satt out there to run the same ineffective offense with the same ineffective plays really what's best for us?
I’d also say it likely undermines what Rhule is trying to instill in the team as well.
They’re in it for the long haul and some of these guys undoubtedly have a relationship with Satterfield. You’re risking that my an in season firing for a team that’s still looking for one win to go bowling.
Evaluate it all in the off season and if you decide a change is to be made, make a smart hire that fits what we want to do.
And a team that many say could win out if they play the way they did last Saturday. Which gives you a 9 win team, and you know we don't fire 9 win coaches at Nebraska.
On a side note I don't see us winning out, 2-2 might do it, 3-2 would be great.
I think we move on from Sat unless we win out and the offense looks much improved. 9 wins and next year we're likely looking at 3 new coordinators. I don't think you are risking anything, you need 1 more game to get bowl eligible. Give Satt one more game to improve, or you give play calling duties to the co-oc.
just curious, how does Rhule undermine himself by holding the coaches accountable? From firing during the season? Ok, I can agree with that, if that is what you meant.

That’s my thought.
He may not have the kind of relationship with the kids that I think he does and it may not matter, but fire Satterfield and redirect with four games left and I don’t know what that looks like to the ‘Fight with me’ message.
I know 75% of the fan base would do a jig, but that’s really irrelevant.
