San Diego State transfer 6"5" Guard Taj DeGourville Is N

There are some interesting pieces coming together with this new roster. We appear to be adding guys who will make you pay if you want to go all In shutting down Pryce. We may even have a better inside defender than Berke, adding the BC kid. This latest add has some similarities to Lawrence, with decent ball handling, some ability to put the ball on the floor and get to the rim, and he looks to have a solid pull up jumper if it’s needed.

We were thin last year, and it obviously hurt us as the season progressed, but many of us wondered about keeping everyone happy with enough touches prior to the start of the season. Then we never get Oogie off the bench, Connor gets sidelined and Blue doesn’t find his spot at the B1G level. That should teach us we need depth, we need more shooters, so when Pryce or Braden have cold streaks, someone else will likely pick up that slack.

I really hope we get some good insight on off season workouts and pickup games.

Trust Fred. I feel like the momentum has shifted significantly. After such a winning season, one that grabbed national attention, quality portal players are seeking out the huskers vs previous years where we had to take what we could get. Players who want a championship (what am I saying?? That isn't what players want anymore) or want exposure to quality coaching and media attention and ultimately a trip to the NBA know Fred can provide that. They get that plus a Big Ten schedule where games are as close to NBA quality as it gets at the collegiate level. And they are not going to walk in the first day announcing their arrival, say "gimme the rock and get out of the way" assuming a perceived star status. Nope. Fred will make these guys compete with each other for playing time. Fredball or nothing at all. He also knows from experience that one-man teams don't make it in the Big Ten. We have seen too many years where the big name player isolates himself socially from the team, they never hung out with each other after practice strengthening the team concept. Last season we saw how important that could be and players like Berke and Sam we central to that.

So by November if the football team has its usual disappointing season we still have much to look forward to. And if the basketball team let's us down there is always volleyball.

I'm not completely sure that is correct. I don't think NU has commitments from any of the top 100 transfers...maybe Orme but certainly didn't get everyone they were hoping to get. Yes, some of that may not be a bad thing and as you said, a better chemistry with team first attitudes will be the expectation and goal.

I think some of the media made a bit much of success NU had and what the expected response would be for players wanting to head to NU. Even with that run, there are many, many teams out there with resources and coaches who are attractive to players.
