I'd sure like to know why RR wasn't able to recruit Ruby out of HS and better yet, why RR was unable to land her again after RM entered the portal. Is there somethin g to this?

Can't answer your first question; but, will speculate on the second that she wouldn't want to be behind Jordy as the staff ace?

At least part of the answer to your first question may be, sometimes kids want to go away for college.

Secondly, back then Washington was better, and it wasn’t even close. Ruby committed to Washington in November 2020. They finished the abbreviated 2020 season 23-2. The year before the Huskies were 52-9 and made the WCWS semifinals .

Things were rough for the Red Team back then. They were in the same “quicksand” of mediocrity the football program’s (still) in, The Huskers finished the abbreviated 2020 season 9-14. In 2019, Nebraska finished 21-31, 9-14 in the Big Ten. In 2018, they went 31-23, 9-13. They were under .500 in 2017. In 2016, the Huskers had a “pretty good” season, 42-21-1, 13-9 in the conference. Basically, if you were an elite softball player back when Ruby and Jordy were in Jr. HS and HS, you weren’t likely coming to Lincoln for college.

Also, people have forgotten that Revelle was placed on administrative leave from early July to August 25, 2019 as Nebraska investigated allegations of “emotional abuse, harassing text messages and bullying.” Additionally, in October 2019, we learned that some players apparently threatened to stage a boycott of fall practice because Bill Moos reinstated her.

IMO, Coach Revelle actually doesn’t get enough credit for what she did to turn the program around *before* Jordy and everybody came back. Six or seven years ago, it looked like Revelle would get fired or “nudged” into retirement. Few would have bet on her turning the program into one that Jordy would have even considered leaving Oklahoma for, despite the fact she’s from Nebraska.

Could her boyfriend/hubby have had something to do with that?
