Wondering why we arent offer Coach Carl more money to stay, say in the $600/$700K range?? Seems like it would be worth the investment for the Husker family.

I don't think anybody knows for sure he wasn't offered. My guess is he wants to be his own man and head coach. Plus, winter in Florida is probably pretty nice, comparatively speaking.

Being he is from Ohio and spent most his coaching life in Ohio, doubt weather entered into the decision process. I had my reservations as Coach Carl as DC in the beginning, no longer. Hope we make a 11 hour offer that keeps CC as DC.

i like coach carl but in the one year he was totally responsible for his defense it wasnt really that great! i actually dont think he is a 600k or 700k a year coordinator. he may have gotten the d back on track completely next year too we dont know but at this point i would say that is way too much of a pay raise for him. FAU isnt even going to pay him that much to be their head coach!

don't think it is about the money. think it is about becoming a head coach in your chosen profession.

Agree.

Also most coaches are very competitive guys, and like the challenge of the HC position.

Carl, by all accounts is a competitive guy, and thus may want to prove that he can run a program and win games on his own.

Stoops Brothers followed a similar path, Mike going to Arizona. Hiring his brother Mark, who now is the DC at Florida State.

several reasons....mainly he probably wants a shot to lead a team regardless of level....and other stuff

Why not? You grew up in Nebraska, yet now you live in Texas. Thousands of reasons why people move. Weather is sometimes a factor.

Being from Iowa and living around the world I would move to Florida in a heartbeat; but then my wife would come and get me and drag me back. She never wants to see Florida again.

Think about this for a few seconds.

Obviously Carl has made the decision to become a HC, we can be fairly certain this was discussed for months/years with Bo. An opportunity has presented itself, and as reported Carl will accept it. Now you are suggesting Bo and TO at the "11th hour" try to negotiate for him to come back ???????????

Recall there was several reports Carl was offered the DC position at Tenn for $ 600 k in 2010.

Also interesting to note BleacherReports predicted this summer that Carl would take a HC job in 2012 (yes, its BleacherReport, but the point is there have been discussions about Carl taking a HC job at some point for several years)

Carl wants to be a Head Coach, good luck to him.
