Yep, the team can control that on the court, but tomorrow Nebraska will be ranked in front of Purdue.Michigan and Purdue are ranked ahead of NU right now - and we play them both in the next 2 weeks. So we control at least part of that equation.

Yes, which made all of the News Years Day bowls interesting and watchable. Remember when it all fell into place (71 I think) and the Huskers played LSU in the Orange Bowl and it came down to the end. Late in the 4th qtr Jerry Tagge went into the line, got stopped but then just reached the ball over the goal line to win the national championship. Wow was that fun.Not totally true in football. NU would have won the NC in 1981 if it had defeated Clemson. It was the debut of the red face masks. You could go into New Year’s Day with all the bowl games, be ranked 5th or 6th, and if things fell right, you could still win the national championship.
This years basketball, team is really fun to watch. They show that with the right coaching and strategic plan the Huskers football program can get back to national prominence. Fred isn't going to get out coached. He also has been fairly good at keeping his teams together year to year. That is an important factor for the huskers. Team unity goes a long way and is being overlooked by many football programs. Hell, professional football has more team unity than we find in college these days. So, perhaps that is the niche Rhule can latch onto somehow. Like Osborne did with conditioning and nutrition back in the 70's and 80's....you checked the Sunday Weird-Harold Sports page to see how the top 25 fared hoping to see a team or two ranked above the Huskers had lost so NU might climb in the rankings?
Kind of like how BB is this year.
GBR
0% chance a Nebraska head football coach would be given as long as Fred has to turn things around. This years basketball, team is really fun to watch. I used to drive out into a field outside of town. There, I could pickup the AM station that carried Husker games. I’d sit in my truck, by myself for hours, and listen to the games. That would have been 1982-1990 or so. Honestly, it was really a great time, even though at the time I didn’t really realize as much. I remember one time taking a girl on a date out in that field. I must have been 16, 17 or so, still in HS. She understood, even though we were in Oklahoma. I don’t even know whose land it was? It was in the middle of nowhere. No one ever bothered me there. Kinda became the spot I’d even go parking with gals back in the day. Priceless times. My nostalgia is for listening to our Big 8 games on the radio on Saturdays as a teen, typically sore from having played a high school game the night before. Good times.

Should Michigan and Purdue be ranked ahead of NU right now?
NU is 5th in net rankings (Michigan is 2nd, Purdue 10th).
I think NU is still bearing the weight of “newcomer” status.
My fear is if NU wins they will get to where they should be … if they lose they’ll be dropped beyond what is reasonable.
It all becomes part and parcel to our tournament seeding. And all that matters in the end is what a team does in the tournament so sit back and enjoy this once in a lifetime ride called the Nebraska Men’s Basketball 2025-26 season.

A 3 or 4 seed is much different than a 6 or 7 seed. A 3 or 4 ends up with an auto qualifier who frankly is much more desirable than an at large bid from a P5 conference.
If NU had ‘Duke’ written on their jerseys we’d probably be 1 or 2 in the country. Can’t believe I’m saying that in all seriousness.Should Michigan and Purdue be ranked ahead of NU right now?
