Husker Dan: Frost's Own Will Change the Culture
There were many “memorable” moments that plagued the Huskers Saturday when they hosted the 5-2 Indiana Hoosiers at Memorial Stadium. […]www.huskermax.com
"So I checked to see how many of Frost’s own players there are on the starting lineups for offense and defense. The list is based on the two deep roster that was issued for the Indiana game. "
OFFENSE
Of the 11 Husker starters listed on Saturday’s Indiana game, there are only five players signed by Frost & Company: They are: Noah Vedral (QB), Dedrick Mills (RB), Kanawai Noa (WR), Wan’Dale Robinson (WR/RB) and Cam Jurgens (C).
DEFENSE
And on defense, things get worse for Frost players. Of the starting 11, there are only three on the starting list. They are: Darrion Daniels (NG), Caleb Tannor (LB) and Cam Taylor-Britt (S).
"With only two recruiting classes (actually only one complete cycle), Frost has not yet been able to field a team made of his own players."
Which is not necessarily a bad thing. It depends on what these Frost recruits have been doing. Hopefully, they are building up to the level they can compete in the B1G and the future will be bright.
Although it seems more and more players are getting early playing time across the country, it is not necessarily a sign of a healthy program if the majority of your freshmen or redshirt freshmen are seeing substantial playing time in an elite conference. There is generally a big difference between an 18 year old and a 22 year old.
