I choose 4. I don't watch as much college football as I have in the past primarily due to my kids sports and just generally more busy. But I still follow Huskers very closely. I like we play different teams in the conference instead of the same 7 year after year. The transfer portal has kept things interesting and usually gives a new level of hope for the team to succeed. Also enjoy the new playoff format and the number of teams that have a chance to win it all. I don't like that Nebraska plays FCS teams just about every year, but understand why. And I don't like that Nebraska hasn't had a great year in the past 10 years, but its got to turn around...right?

It seems we see a lot of the same posters continually complaining about college football and how their interest is fading.If Nebraska had continued to win on average 9 games per year, I don't think this would even be a topic. Its not as fun when the record is between 4-8 and 7-6 every year. It also seems most of the issues these posters cite to is the amount of money being thrown around. Athletes get paid because there are millions of people watching them. I'd guess most of the posters are jealous. So am I. How many of us wouldn't want to be 6' 3 225 pounds, making a couple hundred thousand or more as a 20 year old, with all the other perks that come with all of that. But whether a player is getting paid or just had a scholarship like in the past is not going to affect me in any way. I'm just watching as a fan.

Overall I think the product of college football is better - just not Nebraska's version of it.
 
I will go with 3 for many of the reasons others have stated.

I just about went with 1, and that would be being on here just to see the ad's ;)

I don't usually listen to a lot of PC's during the season. I will read some articles. I do come to this board quite a bit to to get info. That's about it.
 
I choose Option 4. Yes, there is a lot of crazy stuff going on in college sports these days, but my love for the Huskers and CFB has not diminished in the least. I left Nebraska 43 years ago, but I still feel very connected to what's going on in Lincoln. Like the rest of you, I'm disappointed in the Husker football program's on-field results during this century. There were a few good years under Bo, but there was so much chaos and drama around the program that it took away from the enjoyment.

Have we finally turned the corner? With a decent AD, a chancellor that seems to love the program, a revamped coaching staff, and some promising new players, a breakout year seems possible. Will it happen? Hope springs eternal. See you guys and gals at Memorial Stadium.

Meanwhile, enjoy the women's volleyball team. Those girls and DBK are truly special -- don't take it for granted. I hope at least a little bit of their joy, passion, teamwork, and determination rubs off on Matt Rhule's boys. GBR!

You nailed it. It's a product, like Wonder Bread, manufactured and wrapped to maximize eyeballs glued to the screen. It used to be much more organic, like a good oven baked sourdough or whole wheat. It's still edible, but barely.

I selected number 2. I have two teams: Nebraska and Oklahoma State. I'll watch them this year, but I don't know that I will make a game at either. I feel like both programs are no longer competitive due to 10 or 12 programs foreclosing competition in college football, and neither has any real chance to be top 10 anymore, because they aren't media darlings. But both are good, conservative schools that have their priorities in line, and they deserve supporting. I'll still follow these two teams, and I even donate to OSU, but not super excited about CFB and will likely not watch a full game of anyone else playing.

I get so tired about hearing conference bragging and all about how high Texas' payroll is. Spoiled it all. Hope you 10 programs have fun playing each other. I feel everyone else has been frozen out.

I went with #4. While I dislike the overall direction that college sports have moved with lots of transfers each year, I think that there is better competition and parity than a decade ago. I think with playoff expansion and with talent not being hoarded amongst a couple of the top schools, you are more likely to turn on the TV on Saturday and get to watch a compelling game.

I don't like everything about how we've gotten to this point. I don't like that Nebraska isn't very good. I also have less time to commit to watching/following college football than I did a decade ago.

All that combines to say I have about the same interest as I did a decade ago.
 
NIL needs a handle on it, collective bargaining will be needed, salary caps will be needed, and they need to re-introduce divisions in the Big 10
 
I chose 2 and it's mostly because of the changes to the sport.

Still, if Nebraska was, say, in the hunt for a national championship, I'm pretty sure myself and many others would be a lot more interested in what happens.
 
I voted 5, "Somewhat more interested".

That is a net score, with the upside being that the playoff has made the sport so so much better. In the old days, the lack of a playoff was the only thing holding college football back from greatness.

The downside is all the crap with NIL and "free agency" and of course it doesn't help that Nebraska has been down.
 
4. What's been happening for a long time has come to light, and NIL/Transfer/ETC has made it worst. I'm optimistic the system will get fixed or regulated at some point. In the meantime, the product as a whole on the field that I enjoy is still as good or better than it was 10 yrs ago (can't say that about the Huskers, yet). Are there things that I hate, that are ridiculous? Absolutely! But at the end of the day, I am still tuning in to watch Huskers first, and anything else before or after Husker games that is compelling & entertaining.
