Raiola debut vs Portland State - looked good

One of the biggest errors ever made by Nebraska. It is surprising that Nebraska seems to have recovered from this embarrassment. Whoever thought DR was a legitimate fit at Nebraska should be.... Thankfully Rhule seems to have seen the light.

Let’s be careful with the revisionist history here. As I recall, many, dare I say the vast majority, of Husker fans were excitedly following every update when at the last minute, we realized we could get Raiola. And we were collectively pumped when he ultimately selected Nebraska. We knew he had weaknesses, but after the QB debacle the preceding season (remember Sims / Purdy Haarberg??) we were thrilled.

I realize that not everyone felt that way, and maybe you were one of them. But generally most fans were in support of bringing in DR.

And DH wasn’t our OC yet - that occurred later in the season. So DR’s fit in DH’s scheme wasn’t even a consideration.

After 2 years, I think we can all also agree that ultimately he wasn’t a good fit and it’s best for all that he moved on. But DR also did some good things while he was here.

Let’s all acknowledge that and move on.

I remember UCLA in our bowl game, their QB was deadly, until we figured out all we had to do was get him off his spot.
