Proposed bill

Pro sports got antitrust exemptions because the players are employees AND their contracts are done through collective bargaining with the league and player unions.

NCAA wants antitrust exemptions for "independent contractors" in their non-profit organizations.

I would not want Congress or POTUS to run a lemonade stand on behalf of the taxpayers, let alone start meddling in NCAA sports...corrupt bought and paid for politicians with no limits on their campaigns finances preaching to a right tackle about getting a $500K check.

I am spending hundred of dollars more each week for gas and fuel at the farm and these clowns are debating NCAA rules and covering up for a huge ring of rich, grown men who like to have sex with teenagers!

Do you want Congress putting limits on who in your industry can move around and how much they can make?

What have you ever seen the government get involved with and it's better?

Why should the B1G/SEC have limits placed on them because they're the most successful and popular? Why does Fresno State get a reward for being horrible at sports?
The NFL, NBA and MLB have anti-trust rules in place for them. It allows for their labor contracts, it allows for middle market teams to compete, it allows for restrictions the league can put on its owners such as franchise movement …

The restrictions on the B1G/SEC are proposed by the Ted Cruz bill, not by me. But truthfully the B1G/SEC are acting like the Dodgers and Yankees and left to their own devices and their self interests (24 team playoff, lackluster non-conference scheduling …).

CFB isn't an employment venue though. You can't have a union and labor contracts without them being employees.

Opening that door will kill college sports, completely.

We're all acting like cfb hasn't always been about 25 teams total, every year.

I’m not sure this is an accurate portrayal. Just one version. My take is the SEC and the BIG are headed a direction that the NCAA should have taken college football all along and that is a separation of the 140 division 1 entities into two separate divisions. Week in and out there are way to many worthless overmatched games being played.
Why stop there? Why not split the 140 into 5 groups. Call them D1, D2, D3, D3A and D3B. Just because there is a smaller number of teams in a group, doesn't mean that there isn't worthless games because there will always be teams that are terrible (comparatively). Dodgers-Rockies comes to mind.

If you are proposing that then you are missing the entire point and not worth my time to explain.

Leaving the status quo is already killing college sports. It's not an opinion, it's not theoretical, it's happening in real time right now.

I'm not traditionally in support of congress getting involved, but this is one instance where I believe they need to do something. The current model is absolutely unsustainable. We all have biases, but try to look at the picture for college sports as a whole, rather than individual sports, teams or conferences.

What metrics are you using to say it's being killed?

I've said many times here, I'm old school. Give me back the b Big 8. I would be happy as a lark! Players staying for 4 years. Coaches staying long enough i know who coaches where and I can properly hate them for years!

I'm just seeing out what I'm pretty certain our the facts and law here.
