Prayer Request

God, we lift Jonathan into Your care tonight. Surround him with Your steadying presence as his body works to heal. Give wisdom and clarity to every doctor and nurse who is helping him. Strengthen his parents and grandparents with courage for each moment, and let them feel held rather than alone. Bring peace where there is fear, rest where there is exhaustion, and hope that does not fade. We ask for healing in Jonathan’s body and comfort for everyone who loves him. Amen.

I have a prayer request that needs immediate prayer for fellow Husker fans. This is from the grandparents who live here in Salina, KS. Their grandson Jonathan lives in North Platte and has been sick for the last couple weeks on and off.

Yesterday, he slept all day long, and this morning when he got up, he could not walk. His dad took him to the ER. They ran all kinds of tests...heart and brain look good...did an epidural and look at his nervous system.

They now believe Jonathan has Guillain-Barré Syndrome which is rare neurological disorder in which a person’s immune system mistakenly attacks part of their peripheral nervous system—the network of nerves that carries signals from the brain and spinal cord to the rest of the body.

Earlier this afternoon, they took Jonathan to Omaha Children’s Hospital. He still cannot stand on his legs. Somehow his body is fighting itself.

Please pray for all involved.
Praying hard for the young man.

Update on Jonathan: His grandparents said that he walked today!

Another update on Jonathan:
He finished his third plasma exchange transplant yesterday and has two to go. He also got out of ICU yesterday, has all feeling back, and is walking better than the doctors expected. His dad is expecting that Jonathan can go home on Sunday and thanks everyone for prayer and support.
God is truly great! May He continue to watch over him.

Another update:
After a test yesterday, Jonathan was diagnosed with MOG disease...symptoms can resemble MS. Since he could experience this again, he has to do
treatments for the next 6-9 months to help prevent that from happening. He will have day trips to Omaha every other week for 10 weeks and then just once a month.

Despite that, he is doing great right, is walking well, and has all of his feeling. Once back in North Platte, he will have physical therapy, too.

The family is grateful for all for your prayers and support!
