WNIT!!! First Game vs Missouri State @ PBA, Wednesday, 3/15/23 @ 6 PM CDT TV: TBA (probably subsription like FloSports etc.)

Post Season (NCAA? or NIT?) TBA :Timeout:

(or NIL :Stickouttongue:)

Per Huskers.com

Nebraska will await word on its postseason tournament prospects when the NCAA announces its 68-team field on Sunday, March 12. The Postseason WNIT will follow with its announcement of a 64-team field later that same evening.

Amazingly, Creme still has the Huskers in his first four out. As an optimist (which is the only way I've been able to survive the past 20 years of football) I guess it's theoretically still possible the Huskers sneak into the Big Dance, but my brain isn't big enough to figure out exactly how many teams would have to lose for that to happen.

Going to the WNIT wouldn't be a bad cap to this season, especially because I think the Huskers are certainly capable of winning it, and it would probably get the seniors one more game at PBA to say goodbye. (And for the fans to hopefully help convince Issie and Jaz to stay!)

I had a nightmere the other night that Jaz and Issie chose to transfer to Iowa to win a NC alongside Clark. o_O

I can't give the above post enough 'Likes'. O where to start!

You had a nigntmare? The other night I dreamed I was skiing with Joe Biden (he was incognito, sans escort. I was helping him with his rental ski boots. Like Buster Brown (who lives in a shoe); Obama was there too.

I wouldn't even want Clark to transfer to Nebraska. So yes, anything involving Clark is definitely classified as a nightmere.

I think it is highly unlikely to be selected to the NCAA tournament as a .500 team, even though we are playing in what is probably the toughest conference. Purdue/Illinois seem like bubbles that are in. Nebraska/Michigan State as bubbles that are out.

I do think we are a lock for the WNIT. This is a computer generated bracket with the Huskers as one of the top four seeds.

Three of four other sites I have found for women's hoops also have Nebraska as first 4 or 5 out.
CBS hasn't bothered to update theirs since March 1st.

But, there is a fourth one updated yesterday that still has the Huskers in the NCAA field!

So Nebraska may have as many as 5 home games in the WNIT? At least that should be some motivation.
From Wikipedia (I was looking to see if the championship game or final four was played someplace predetermined):

Since the WNIT is a for-profit tournament, all games are played on the site of the higher bidding team.[6] The national championship game is currently carried on CBS Sports Network. Teams can host in the first round for a guarantee of $6,500 a game and in the second round for $7,500 a game. Early-round pairings are regionalized as much as possible in order to minimize missed class time and travel costs.[5]

Updated through yesterday's game. OmniRankings still have the Huskers as a top four seed in the WNIT.

Is it just me, or does the west part of this bracket seem much easier than the east?

I originally was going to question the inclusion of Penn State over Wisconsin and Rutgers, but PSU has a much better overall record (14-17) even though they only went 4-14 in conference.

Lastly, if the Huskers do face off against Oregon in the NIT Final Four at PBA, there's no way Jaz is going to let Oregon win on her home court. Absolutely no way.

As of 9:40 pm last night (3/11), Creme has the Huskers sliding down the "Next Four Out."

Just to highlight how difficult the Huskers schedule was this year, Creme has five teams the Huskers beat (Miss. State, Kansas, Purdue, Illinois and UMD) in his NCAA Tournament bracket right now. UMD is a #2 seed, Illinois is a #9 seed, Mississippi State is a #10 seed, while KU and Purdue are both #11 seeds.

If Creme's right, Mississippi State has a chance to lose to two Nebraska schools in the same season. He's got them facing #7 seed Creighton.

Creme also has Iowa and UConn in the same region. It won't happen, but I'd love for Page Bueckers to be healthy enough to play Iowa if they both get through to the Elite 8. I really don't want Iowa to make the Final Four, let alone win the title. Heck, I'm not happy with Stanford because their loss in the PAC-10 tournament probably gave Iowa a #1 seed.

As a long time Tennessee fan (I nearly went to UT just so I could be able to cover Pat Summit's team for the student newspaper there), I'm really happy to see them having a good season, and potentially getting a #5 seed in this tournament. IMO, women's college basketball is better when both UConn and Tennessee are good.

OmniRankings updated though yesterday's games. I watched the Missouri Valley semifinals in person yesterday.#1 seed Illinois State lost by 20 to Drake. UNI faded late and lost to Belmont.

Lady Huskers are not in the 2023 NCAA Tournament. :( NIT invitations should be announced Tomorrow.

EDIT: ESPNU will host the N.I.T. Selection Show at 9 pm CDT tonight. Not sure if it is just MBB or Women's too.
