"On Saturday night, RAF 09 featured a trio of Huskers in Ridge Lovett and Antrell Taylor at Lightweight (155 pounds), and Christopher Minto at Middleweight (175 pounds). Lovett — who is going to be in Final X in June at 70 kg — earned his biggest career win over an Olympic medalist, while Taylor and Minto fell to former Penn State superstars."

""With a Final X date looming against former World Champion Zain Retherford, Lovett is on a roll. He won the US Open title in April before winning a gold medal at the Pan-American Championships in May. On the year, Lovett is 10-1 at the Senior level with his only loss coming 5-5 on criteria against Kazakhstan’s Maiis Aliyev at the Muhamet Malo Ranking Series in February. Aliyev is a former U20 and U23 World Team member and has a U20 bronze at the Asian Championships.
Final X will take place June 19 with Lovett taking on Retherford in a best-of-three series."

"I don’t know who performed James Green’s partial hip replacement surgery in 2023, but they did one hell of a job as Green secured his EIGHTH World Team spot for Team USA on Friday at Final X.

After just over a year away, Green returned to competition due to a very successful surgery and recovery. He’s since moved up to 74 kg where he now finds himself on top of the pecking order in America after defeating 2025 World Team member David Carr twice at Final X."

"In his first Final X after winning the US Open title at 70 kg in April, Ridge Lovett fell in straight matches to former World Champion Zain Retherford.
Lovett was unable to crack the code that is Retherford’s defense, dropping the first match 2-1 before losing the second 8-2. Lovett had some solid moments in both matches but wasn’t able to reliably get in on Retherford’s legs."

Huskers In RAF: Minto vs. O’Toole Tonight, Hardy’s Big W, Burroughs Debuting in August​

"In case you didn’t know, there is now a legit professional league for freestyle wrestling — Real American Freestyle — and a number of current and former Huskers have joined the RAF ranks over the past year.
Nebraska has already seen guys like James Green, Ridge Lovett, Brock Hardy, Caleb Smith, Antrell Taylor and Christopher Minto compete on the RAF stage, and they’re not done yet.
The American GOAT Jordan Burroughs has signed on with RAF and will headline its one-year anniversary RAF 12 card on August 22 against Sean Brady — the #5-ranked UFC Welterweight contender. While Brady is known for his ground game in the UFC, he’s unlikely to be a serious match for Burroughs the seven-time World and Olympic Champion. This match feels like the type that RAF made to allow Burroughs to knock the rust off after nearly two years away from competition.

Hardy Dominates Asian Medalist Alibegov​

At RAF Georgia last weekend, four-time All-American Brock Hardy faced off against Bahrain’s Alibeg Alibegov — a 2026 Asian bronze medalist who is a native of Dagestan, Russia. Dagestan is a global hotbed for wrestlers, grapplers and MMA fighters.
A former U23 bronze medalist for Team USA, Hardy gave up the opening exposure in the match before taking over. After Alibegov scored on a chest wrap off Hardy’s shot early, Hardy responded with a takedown before transitioning to a leg lace and then a gut wrench on the way to scoring a step-out point as well to go up 9-2.

Hardy has a number of solid freestyle wins in his career — including Alibegov, Bo Bassett (12-7 at the 2025 World Team Trials), Sammy Alvarez (12-7 at U23 Worlds), and Goga Otinashvili of Georgia (8-5 in U23 bronze-medal match)."
