Players Staying/Going for 2026-27 season

It seems Amy’s players have a thing going on where one player per day announces whether they’re returning for the 2026-27 season. Rather than starting a new thread every day, I thought it better to consolidate all the announcements/discussion in one thread.

In The portal
1. Jessica Peatrie

Returning
1. G Logan Nissley (Senior in 26-27)

2. F Amiah Hargrove (Junior in 26-27)

You forgot to add Bozan as leaving and Williams and Potts are staying.

What is a 'do not contact' tag mean?

It means the player doesn’t want to be contacted by any school. Players who already have an agreement with their new school usually select this tag because it eliminates potential texts, calls, etc. from schools they’re not interested in.

Just hadn’t gotten around to it. I thought I had the flu. Turns out it’s walking pneumonia, and I’ve been hacking up my lungs for over a week lol. I’ve had pneumonia three times before, and this version seems much “less fun” and much more annoying than the others.

I’m not surprised Petra’s in the portal. When you get benched during a game, and then the head coach’s answer to the lack of depth at your position is to ask the starters to play more minutes, it’s not a good sign that you’re in the team’s plans going forward. IMO not only did Petra’s game not take a step forward this season, it might have actually regressed. Given that she joined the team late, just before school started in August 2024, I had hoped a full offseason of training/practice would help her a lot going into 2025-26. Somehow, that didn’t materialize.

I am a bit surprised about Johnson. She was only a sophomore this year, and we lose Callin Hake. I hope this means Amy’s got a portal addition coming in addition to the one guard HS recruit. Or, maybe it means we’ll see a lot more of G Alanna Neale in 26-27. The Huskers never confirmed it, but given that we didn’t see Neale at all after December 2025, I gotta think she was injured.

I want to believe we’re going to have a fully healthy Allison Weidner in 26-27, because when she’s been healthy she might even be a better offensive player than Jaz was. Not to mention that seeing PBA go absolutely bonkers for her the last time she played was so much fun! But her knees have betrayed her before. Sadly, I don’t think Amy can/should heavily count on those knees cooperating with Allison’s brain and heart for a full season. I know she’s (unsurprisingly) coming back, but we still don’t know if Potts has been medically cleared yet. Hopefully, Natalie will get fully cleared this summer too. I thought she’d be healthy enough to play at least by Big Ten season this year, (1 year after surgery) and her knee wouldn’t cooperate. So there’s no sure thing even though she’s thankfully staying.

Tennessee just literally lost their entire roster and all but one incoming recruit. No joke, they currently have one player on next year’s roster right now. I’m not sure we’ve seen a P4 program with that problem, absent NCAA sanctions. Seems like Tennessee’s players didn’t care too much for HC Kim Caldwell’s “we’re spoiled” message after they lost in the 1st round of the tournament. I hope Amy might be able to take advantage of the unfolding disaster in Knoxville, because I’m pretty sure schools like UCLA, USC and Michigan will. UCLA’s gotta reload after losing Betts to the WNBA draft.

Amy, Fred and HCMR have their work cut out for them! I can’t remember when all three major college sports NC winners came from the same conference. (Hopefully, Jordy, Kennadi and their teammates can get to OKC and extend the Big Ten’s NC streak to softball too.)

Lastly, maybe it’s just my Husker football “inevitability the sky will fall” paranoia sneaking in, but anybody else concerned we haven’t heard from Britt Prince yet?

Sounds like Iowa State is losing most of their team too. Four of five starters won't be back plus some bench players.

Well, Iowa men did exactly that from last year to this year. "mshrug:

9 total players gone from Iowa State, including Crooks.

I get the exodus at Tennessee. Their HC is probably not going to last more than another year. But what happened at ISU?!?

Also, Crooks + Prince, Nissley, Hargrove, & Potts with Koupal coming off the bench=Big Ten Championship. Crooks & Potts would be an even better duo than whoever USC’s going to put in the front court alongside JuJu. Hargrove just makes that group even better.

That’s understandable because of the coaching change. Tennessee, I think players are leaving because Caldwell probably won’t be there much longer, and from all outside appearances, she lost the locker room during that losing streak. That “we’re soft” comment after their loss to NC State IMO was probably just the topper on why players wanted out.

One of the things I have to credit Amy and her staff with is, they obviously didn’t lose the locker room even though it might have looked like it at times. The Huskers played hard during the NCAA tournament, they didn’t want to go home and end the season. Tennessee, they just looked lost.
