According to those numbers Nebraska was in the top 5 most viewed non-playoff games, so I like that. I would have to say though, that popular opinion on the board should rarely be taken for fact.

The ratings say otherwise. I'm not disagreeing with you that this is not a sustainable model, but until it starts affecting the ratings, not much will change.

The demise of college football started with the TV and contracts to show games on TV.
Perhaps a TV ban on NCAA football would return the sport to its puritanical beginnings?
I am sure the TV networks can fill the content by covering frisbee golf or pickleball...but alas the TV money would ruin those sports too.
Only solution would be to ban all amateur sports from TV...until the lawyers get involved

What was wrong with TV showing all the games? Everyone wins. The problem, was greed. It was never enough. Businesses have caps, and when you exceed those caps, the business becomes a shell of what it was. Happens all the time. That’s why you see a large portion of businesses, coming up with shenanigans to increase numbers and please shareholders. Look at college football now. It’s full of shenanigans, USC @Rutgers, Penn State @Oregon, South Carolina @Oklahoma. Lol. They had to tear the sport from its soul, and destroy all its revered history, so it could make more money. It shouldn't have ever ended up like this. Piss poor management, greed and no plan created this mess.
