It would help significantly if we have zebras who know what the rules are, just sayin'.

That was a wild day for penalties. Yes, we got called for some bad ones but the motion on offense was frustrating. Over and over.

Sure, the team committed too many penalties, but the crew also was calling absolutely nonsense, too.

They also straight up botched the penalty on our PAT. I looked up the rule. It should have been half the distance and we retry the kick. Assessing 15 yards on the kickoff was a gross misapplication. They basically took a point away from our score in exchange for 15 yards on the next play.

Officiating crew was a clown show.

Sean Callahan tweeted it was a record for NU to have 10 before half. The previous record was vs Purdue in 2024. Rhule needs help there for sure.

When it came out that this crew was the same crew that botched the Michigan, one second add, it made things a little clearer. They sucked for both teams this weekend. It seemed that some of the flags were so delayed that both sidelines were confused as to what happened.

This is the same team that had 5 penalties a few games ago. What was different? The ref crew. People just can't seem to acknowledge that some crews call more things, and questionable things. If NU had 16 penalties and the opponent had 4, then there would be reason to complain. (TA&M anyone?)

I was there and thought I saw clearly on the big screen that two fingers went back just like in volleyball.

Agreed. With the low-rent broadcast, there were 2 angles that were both terrible and didn't give any clear image of the block.
Too many ticky-tack calls and miscalls, but a good portion of the penalties were certainly on us and need to be corrected.

What is ironic if you follow the game day thread multiple posters call somewhere between 10 and 20 penalties on the other team , so I suspect a lot of those posters love a 28 penalty game .
