Jordan Burroughs will be one of 18 talented wrestlers heading to the 2019 Pan-American Games in Lima, Peru, this week. The Pan-American Games differ from the Pan-American Championships as the Games feature the 18 Olympic weights across all three styles (Greco-Roman, men’s freestyle and women’s freestyle) and are contested only once every four years.

Burroughs is a two-time Pan-American Games champion, winning in 2011 and 2015. In his most recent Worlds event, Burroughs won Senior World bronze at 74 kg, defeating 2017 World champion Frank Chamizo of Italy in the third-place match.

Burroughs at Pan-American Games (Lima, Peru)
Saturday, Aug. 10
10 a.m. - Preliminary Rounds and Semifinals (MFS 74, 86, 97,125)
4:30 p.m. - Finals (MFS 74, 86, 97,125)

"The final day of action from Lima, Peru saw Jordan Burroughs (74 kg), Kyle Snyder (97 kg), and Nick Gwiazdowski all come away victorious. Burroughs earned his gold medal with a 4-1 victory of Michigan State national champion and former world silver medalist Franklin Gomez (Puerto Rico). Snyder’s title came after he downed Jose Diaz Roberti (Venezuela), 9-3. In the semi’s, Kyle got by world medalist Reineris Salas Perez (Cuba), 3-1. The big man Gwiazdowski looked as good as ever by teching all three of his opponents on the day, all without surrendering a single point. The men’s freestyle team also added another medal as Patrick Downey racked up a fall over Alexander Moore (Canada) to secure the bronze medal at 86 kg."
