Men's and Women's Track and Field Enter Top 10
"The Nebraska men's and women's track and field teams both entered the top of the USTFCCCA Rankings this week.
The Husker men are ranked No. 8, up 18 spots from No. 26. The Husker women are ranked No. 10, up 14 spots from No. 24.
It marks the first time since May 30, 2023 that both the NU men and women have been ranked in the outdoor top 10 at the same time. "

"The Nebraska track and field team wrapped up day two of the Big Red Classic, claiming 17 event titles over the two days of competition.
In the final event of the day, Axelina Johansson threw an outdoor school record mark of 19.62m (64-4 ½) with her final shot put throw of the meet. The indoor national champion now holds the facility record and the best mark in the NCAA this season.
For an outdoor personal record, Cade Moran threw 20.21m (66-3 ¾) for the fourth-best mark in outdoor school history for men’s shot put. Hencu Lamberts used a strong throw of 19.75m (64-9 ¾) to earn a third-place finish.
Brett Schwartz began the final day of the Big Red Classic by throwing the discus for a length enough for fourth in school history. His throw of 61.75m (202-7) marked a personal best for the junior from Carbondale, Kan. Taking third with a mark of 57.69m (189-3) was Kael Miedema.
Mason Kooi harnessed second-place in the men’s high jump, clearing 2.10m (6-10 ¾). Ela Velepec claimed second in the women’s high jump, clearing 1.75m (5-8 ¾). EJ Brown finished in third, clearing 1.75m (5-8 ¾) on her last attempt.
In the women’s 4x100, the quad of Elo Blessing Okpah, Rajer Gurode, Victoria Aransiola, and Timeke-Jade Coetzee notched a title with a time of 46.39. The men’s team of Jacorric Allen, Richard Simpson, Ashriel Dixon, and Xavier Bogan took second for a time of 41.67.
Finishing after the relay was Nebraska’s Ashmika Korala in the men’s triple jump with a winning mark of 14.92m (48-11 ½). Winning the women’s triple jump was true freshman Whitney Robinson with a 12.47m (40-11) mark.
The freshman Dennis Chapman from Omaha, Neb., competed in the 1500m for a time of 3:53.04. His first time in the event gave him a winning time over eight other runners. On the women’s side, Alea Hardie finished in second, running a new personal best of 4:30.55 and Cami Merickel claimed third with a time of 4:37.71.
With a mark of 53.82m (176-7), Amelia Flynt took first in the women’s discus.
In a wind-aided 100m hurdle race, Grace Parsons raced to an event title with an unofficial personal best time of 13.98. Ava Goetz took third with a time of 14.59.
In the men’s 110m hurdles, Luke Noland crossed the finish line in 14.52 for his first event-winning place of the weekend.
Picking up personal bests in the 400m, James Ledbetter ran 47.69, earning second. William McDavid circled the track in 50.22, claiming sixth.
Okpah and Gurode took first and second in the 100m sprint with times of 11.61 and 11.67, respectively. With an unofficial personal best, Ashriel Dixon came in at second for the men with a time of 10.41.
The men’s and women’s 4x400m relay teams both notched first-place finishes in their respective events, with the men running a season-best 3:10.52 and the women running 3:48.15."

Jana Lowka highlighted the day with a personal-best throw of 56.74m (186-2) to claim sixth in the women’s javelin WACT competition and move into third in school history.
Hannes Fahl was the first Husker on the track making his 2026 season debut, running 3:50.15 in the men’s 1500m UD/CD division to finish second.
Cami Merickel won the women’s 3000m steeplechase in the open division, crossing the line in 10:32.34
Alea Hardie added another event title after winning the Open Division (Unseeded) of the women’s 5000m, running 16:54.69.
On the men’s side, Rico Leijenaar claimed second, clocking a 14:32.33 in his first track competition of the season. Kaleb Sharp won the men’s 800m UD/CD division (Unseeded) title, running 1:51.28."
The Nebraska track and field team won seven event titles on day three of Drake Relays. Donna Douglas (Discus), Hencu Lamberts (Shot Put), Mine De Klerk (Shot Put), Brett Schwartz (Discus), Mason Kooi (High Jump), Women’s 4x200m relay and Sage Burbach (Shot Put UD/CD).
In her first outdoor competition of the year, Douglas threw the fourth-furthest mark in school history (56.80m, 186-4) to win the women’s discus Championship Division title. Amelia Flynt followed close behind, throwing 55.95m (183-6) to claim second and move up to sixth all-time.
Lamberts continued his monster freshman season, throwing 19.89m to win the men’s shot put Championship Division title and move into eighth in school history.
In the women’s 4x200m relay UD/CD, Nebraska claimed the event title, running 1:34.46, good for the fifth fastest time in school history. The Husker men took second in the 4x200m, running 1:24.82.
De Klerk won the women’s shot put Championship Division title with a throw of 17.57m (57-7 ¾).
Schwartz was the collegiate champion of the men’s discus Championship Division, throwing 58.72m (192-8).
In the Championship Division of the men’s high jump, Kooi claimed the event title, clearing 2.18m (7-1 ¾).
In the University women’s 4x100m relay, Nebraska’s quartet of Elo Blessing Okpah, Rajer Gurode, Victoria Aransiola, and Sakena Massiah took third overall, winning their heat with a time of 45.25 and qualifying for finals tomorrow at 2:30 p.m.
Burbach, the sophomore from Martell, Neb., won the UD/CD women’s shot put with a mark of 15.92m (52-2 ¾).
Ava Alexander used a mark of 12.08m (39-8) in the women’s triple jump UD/CD to claim a third-place finish.
Winning her heat, Rajer Gurode took third overall in the 100m University/College Division with a time of 11.62.
Louis Martinez cleared 5.36m (17-7) in the men’s pole vault Championship Division to grab a third-place finish.
In the women’s 400m hurdles, Abrielle Artley took second with a time of 58.15, while James Ledbetter took third on the men’s side with a personal best time of 50.84 in the University/College Division. "

Schutz, Lamberts Earn Big Ten Weekly Awards
Schutz won the mile race at the Drake Relays with the No. 3 time in NCAA Outdoor history. She clocked a 4:27.30 to finish as the top collegiate in the race, also setting a school record in the process. The junior from Lincoln now owns eight Nebraska school records.
Lamberts won his shot put flight at the Drake Relays with a personal-best mark of 65-3 1/4 (19.89m). His throw ranks fourth in the Big Ten this season and No. 5 in the nation. Lamberts moved up to No. 8 in school history and has now earned two Big Ten Outdoor Freshman of the Week honors this season. "

True freshman Hencu Lamberts continued his dominant freshman campaign winning the men’s shot put title with the fifth-furthest throw in school history of 20.18m (66-2 ½). Cade Moran added a third-place finish, throwing 20.01m (65-7 ¾).
The Husker men swept the podium in the hammer throw with Noa Isaia claiming the event title, throwing a personal best 67.47m (221-4) and improving on his No. 4 mark in school history. Seth Schnakenberg on his No. 6 mark with a throw of 66.57m (218-5) and Brett Schwartz rounded out the top three with a 65.38m (214-6) throw.
Rhianna Phipps earned the women’s triple jump title with a mark of 13.44m (44-1 ¼). Phipps now sits in first in the Big Ten with that mark. In the men’s triple jump, Ashmika Korala jumped 15.51m (50-10 ¾) to finish in second.
In the women’s shot put, Axelina Johansson led a Big Red sweep, throwing 19.10m (62-8). Mine De Klerk threw 17.12m (56-2) to claim second and Donna Douglas added a personal-best throw of 16.91m (55-5 ¾) to round out the top three.

Strachan Wins Gold to Open B1G Championships
Strachan claimed Nebraska’s first event title of the Big Ten Championships with a mark of 79.36m (260-4). "
Jana Lowka took second in women’s javelin with a mark of 54.07m (177-4) to capture eight points for Nebraska.
At the halfway mark of the women’s heptathlon, Nebraska’s Ava Goetz recorded four personal bests and was left in fourth place at the end of the first day. Beginning in the 100m dash, Goetz recorded a 13.94. Next, in the high jump event, Goetz came in second with a mark of 1.80m (5-10 ¾). For shot put, the Fayetteville, Ark. native threw a 10.59m (34-9), up from her previous mark of 10.25m (33-7 ½). Lastly, her time of 25.87 in the 200m dash moved her to her fourth lifetime best.
Kelsie Belquist was the fastest athlete in the qualifying section of the women’s 400mH, running 56.24. Abrielle Artley ran the third-fastest time in the event and tying her personal best (58.14) to qualify for Sunday’s final at 2:12 p.m. (CT).
On the second day of the Big Ten Championships, Axelina Johansson highlighted the day with her record-setting throw in the women’s shot put as the Husker women sit in fourth with 46 points after nine events. The Nebraska men ended the day in third with 28 points after six events.
Johansson, the six-time NCAA shot put champion, launched a throw of 19.97m (65-6 ¼) to cement her name in the Big Ten record books. Setting a Big Ten meet record, Johannson cleared the competition by nearly two meters.
In the men’s 400m dash qualifier, Logan Lebo broke his career best by 0.13 seconds, running 47.21 in the first heat. Freshman Richard Simpson nearly hit a career-best time (46.08) in the race, but marked a 46.09 in the event.
Gabe Nash ran 1:46.95 in the qualifying section of the men’s 800m to position himself in fifth in school history. Kaleb Sharp ran a personal best of his own, crossing the line in 1:47.39 to move into a tie for seventh all-time for NU.
Noland tied his personal best in the men’s 110mH, clocking 14.44 in the first event of the day. He captured his season-best total of 6942.
Ava Goetz and Grace Parsons both set overall personal bests in the women’s heptathlon. Goetz used five personal bests, including a final time of 2:23.86 in the 800m to move her to a finish of sixth with 5265 points. Her points combined for tenth in school history. Parsons amassed 5041 total points, coming in at ninth for the best score she’s accomplished. "
