Dylan Raiola chose Nebraska over offers from some of the strongest programs in college football because he genuinely loves this place. Unless it becomes unmistakably clear that he won’t see the field next year—which I don’t think is likely—I believe he’ll want to stay. I’ll admit there’s a chance I’m being naive, but that’s how I see it.
For the record.. I 100% do not want Dylan to leave. We are a better team with him than without, clearly. We are also more prepared this year if he walks than we were last and I do think it forces our offense to evolve in more modern ways. I always prefer that we keep top end talent on the roster than lose it though, especially a legacy like himself who clearly took the road less traveled by picking us over an easy CFP option like OSU or UGA
I honestly feel it might be in his best interest. I can see a situation were him and TJ transfer. If he was my son I would be completely open to it. I would ask him if he believes Nebraska can win 9-10 games. Dylan wants to be an NFL quarterback. I’m not sure that can happen here with the current roster and schedule next season. That’s not knock on the coaching, it’s an honest assessment of this team. I’m fully concentrating on Iowa at the moment, but if I think about next season, I see another 6-7 win year.
