From 1996-2008, as a whole, the Big 12 was the strongest league. Were other teams in other conferences capable? Of course. That’s always the case. Oklahoma played for a NC in 2004, Texas won it in 2005. Oklahoma placed for it in 2000, 2003, 2004, 2008. The Big 12 south was brutal. If you want to argue 2009 forward, I’d agree. You’ll argue anything. The one thing I was wrong on, I owned. We’ll see how that pans out moving forward. I never said Rhule was worthless. He wasn’t worthy of an extension, or is that wrong too? His teams play, has sucked. That’s a damn fact. Can’t be argued. 19-19 got Riley fired. It got Rhule an extension. Can he turn it around? I don’t know, maybe, maybe not. The odds aren’t in his favor. I’m hopeful he can. NU is stuck with him. Maybe he’ll get better? We’ll see soon enough.
Well Callahan wasn’t here for 1996-2008. I was disputing your myth that the Big 12 was the premier league during the Callahan years……it was not. It was one of the softest. Now if you want to argue who had the toughest route due to conference strength that would be Rhule under the BIG. Arguably the premier conference right now having won the CFP the last 3 years.

Big 12 was top heavy in the Callahan years, just like the BIG and SEC were. It was Ohio State at the top. There were no other NT contenders.

Just frickin STOP IT. You are wrong. You have been proven wrong, you are changing the goal posts to cover up your crap. Either admit your statement got owned or at least leave the conversation with thinking you have to have the last word.

This has the makings of another 30 page thread of you changing your story all the time and as usual you will keep burying yourself. Just own it and stfu

In the Callahan years the SEC won two national titles. Big 12 won one because of Vince Young. Oklahoma got smoked like the imposters they were whenever they played someone good. Big 12 north was weak, Texas Tech and Okie St were pretenders. Really the PAC Ten or SEC were top to bottom the best conferences. Big Ten was suspect back then, but it’s leaps and bounds more difficult today than what NU faced back in the 2000s, not even close.

I recall attending two Nebraska-Oklahoma games back-to-back years, in 2020 and 2021 I believe, when they were 1 and 2 in the nation. That's a decently strong conference I would say.

2000 Oklahoma would have got smoked by Miami. 2001 Nebraska did. Not bad teams but they weren’t really the best in the country

I never thought Nebraska could hire a worse coach at the time. They did, three more time. Riley, Frost and Rhule are all worse, although with Frost and Rhule, it wasn’t known at the time of hire. With Riley, it was a given. This program seriously needs some super smart, common sense having people at the absolute TOP.
Good grief.....another ignore added to my collection.

Callahan took over a top 20 program and drove it off a cliff. Rhule took over a program in shambles and got us to two bowls. It’s not even close and anyone saying different is just spouting rubbish.

Now can this thread end since it was a troll post to begin with.

Who else besides Ohio State was contending for national titles in the mid 2000’s? Who? It wasn’t Michigan, or Wisconsin, or Iowa, so who? In the PAC, it was USC only under Carroll. In the SEC, it was mostly Florida during that time actually, with LSU making an occasional visit. Stop what, swallowing your wrong narrative?

No one said he didn’t rebound NU, not hard given what he inherited. He is, however stuck in neutral. His record is 19-19. Riley was fired for the same record. I’m glad you are happy with the pinstripe bowl, and a drubbing in the Las Vegas bowl. Can he rebound? That’s the question you should be asking yourself, not attacking me for being immensely disappointed in 19-19. Hell, you should be disappointed. I suppose you’ll be pleased if he rips off a 5-7 this year as well? Significant improvement should be mandatory. Teams like Vanderbilt, Arizona State, Georgia Tech, Duke and many others, have flown past NU during the same time frame. Maybe he can rebound, I don’t know? I’ve stated as much, but NU wasn’t even competitive in the last part of the season, and it WASN’T just due to the QB.

Remember this, all those coaches who are no longer here, he hired them, him, no one else. Does he just constantly get a pass? Dude is making top 10 money, yet producing top 60 results.
