Ohio State- Ryan Day and Nil payroll

Them and Tejas. The Horns didn't have to pay their first SEC road game until late October, against Vandy, and they almost lost. When you start peeling back the onion on these "for sure" playoff teams, you quickly realize several have had a really soft schedule. Tejas has impressed this year, but they are plenty beatable.
It's almost like the conference's know who the money makers are and make sure they get all the breaks they can

Almost? Did you watch the SEC officials hose GA Tech last night, to help move the needle? Totally bogus PI call late on GA Tech, on a failed 4th down attempt, gave GA a First and goal at the 1 yard line. :Mfclap:

And when that didn't quite do the trick, a no-call on an egregious GA hold that allowed a long pass complete for a FIRST DOWN!!!! :Woohoo:

I am sure that GA insisted on a SEC crew for this game, so that they could get the skids greased if they needed it. They did, and they were.

We can't let some unranked ACC team come into our house and show everyone that the SEC is a fraud. Well maybe not a fraud, but let's get off our high horse a bit. Even after the striper shenanigans, it took 8 OTs to beat GA Tech. Hilarious.

So Ryan Day has a 20 million Dollar Nil payroll to use and hired Chip Kelly as his OC and yet they lost to the best team on their Schedule in Oregon as Will Howard Ran out the Clock and today OSU scored 10 points vs 6-5 Michigan all in the first half and Howard couldn't do anything at the end to move the ball. Day has all the things needed MONEY, Big Time assistants, players seems Day is the Issue.
Money helps but it is more important to have the right culture and chemistry.

To be honest the guy is 10 and 2 and probably in the playoff with a shot to win the NC, I really can't imagine him being fired. Just don't see it happening.

seems there's a bunch of that in college football these days.
When you have turnover chains and longs seasons, some of this is expected.
Creativity being stunted? Wear the turnover chain. Destroy uniqueness, wear that chain.
Get kids playing younger and younger longer and longer, more injuries, less experience, pro poaching.
Now its 105. The game is degrading, or being degraded.

Can't lose to your hated rival 4 straight years. They have an ego to protect. I say he's gone.

Yeah… tend to agree. It will depend on how they do in the CFP.

If they’re one and done… and/or get beat handily… it could lead to a very hot seat for HCRD.

Ryan Day, is 66-10. Thinking of running him off would be unbelievably stupid. I’ve said before and been scoffed at, osu has too much talent. They don’t have a good balance. 5*’s sitting on the bench isn’t going to work well. it’s a big state school, like Texas, and they’ve gotten an entitled ego that they should own college football. Nebraska should have beaten that team.

Sometimes, in rivalries, streaks happen. This isn’t a Ryan Day problem, this is a university issue, top down. The amount of pressure they place on Michigan, winning the natty, every year, aren’t realistic. It can be the goal, sure, but for them, it’s seemingly life or death. That’s not a good formula. Ryan Day would only be the scapegoat. I hope they are dumb enough to fire Ryan Day. They’d likely have turmoil from that, which hopefully, would damage that program.

Wonder how many of their players will be left at home after the brawl yesterday. Anyone throwing punches should be done for the season maybe more if they have eligibility left. Day Standing around slack jawed isn’t going to help him keep his job.

I've been saying that on here for a long time.

There is a lot of money at stake for a conference to get and/or keep a team in the CFP.

No way the SEC could or would allow The Ramblin Wreck of Georgia Tech to slam that money vault closed.

I’ve said for a long time that big time college football is just a step below pro wrestling. Not completely rigged, but somewhat. Often embarrassingly obvious.

Particularly late in the season, I can point out big time teams on the ropes against far messier opponents, getting critical and egregious help from the officiating, year after year. Anyone recall Texas-Houston last year?

That’s a lot why I don’t watch much of it anymore. But just like WWE, the crowds continue to show up and watch.
