Ohio State Practice Week: 24 October Coach Rhule

I dunno! After 18 games it is easy to see what is or isn't working. A year and a half for an OC to figure out he needs to be able to run the ball isn't a good look!
I'm sure Rhule can see what is or isn't working half way through year two. And while fans that have waited over 18years to see a change want something done mid season, I still feel Rhule is not going to make a change after 18 games at NU, even if he sees something needs to change.

My posts are merely pointing out Rhule will not see things the same way we do because he's dealing with an 18 game perspective while we look at things with an 18 year perspective.

I’m pretty sure I remember Rhule stating in the preseason he doesn’t make any coaching changes after year 1 unless a vacancy or new position is granted by ncaa. This is because of all the non controllable factors. I fully expect we will see changes this offseason. He has had time to digest and has a plan to address our deficiencies. I would also suspect he will use the transfer portal a lot more this offseason.

If we go 4-1 the rest of the way or even 3-2, will we see coaching changes?

3-2 puts us at 8-4 and I'd like to think most would feel that was decent improvement over year one.

2-3 puts us at 7-5, which is a bowl game and improvement, but I'd think some might feel the improvement wasn't enough and some changes need to be made.

I really wasn't thinking I'd have to explain this.

We've had over 18 years as NU fans looking for a better team. Rhule has had 18 games as an NU coach working towards a better team. What seems like forever for us is a season and a half for him. He's not going to be as excited for change as the fans that have waited over 18 years, for him to be willing to make a change mid season.
Coaches are stubborn, now more so than ever with all the social media. When they make a change, they don’t want it to look like their fault for the gaff to begin with (see OU). They don’t want their knowledge questioned by Joe Random. Hence, they hold firm longer than they should. I mean, in business, if I’ve made a mistake, and I realize I made a mistake, I’m figuring out a way to fix it, quickly. That’s my job. Same with coaching, less the pay scale. Own mistakes, then dominate.

Bo should have had 2, TWO, Big 12 titles. One was stolen, the other was fumbled away. If administration hadn’t got in the way, who knows what Bo could have done? After that, he no longer cared. I know exactly what you are saying, 18 years, but in my mind, it hasn’t been. We had 3 good Pelini years (2009 was the best team defense this century), 7 overall. I haven’t thrown in the towel on Rhule. I do expect a blowout loss Saturday. Still want him to succeed moving forward, but find an offense for college. Find something. Nebraska doesn’t do anything well offensively.

This is a good break down of why everyone should be alarmed after Satts presser. It's mind boggling this guy is still OC. We have a year and a half of him failing to demonstrate anything like a coherent philosophy on offense. He's just calling plays to see it something "hits". Last year our whole offense was ad hoc QB runs by Haarberg. Probably half weren't even designed runs. This is insane.
"Nebraska is 0-for-5 in games that would clinch bowl eligibility under Rhule."

Remember when we used to look at bowl game records instead of clinching bowl game eligibility records?

I don't think the changes needed to be made can be quantified by wins/losses at the coordinator or position coach level. You need to dig deeper and look at our offense/defense/position group production.

Now more than ever I would love a revival of Tunnel Walk of Shame to carry us through what is hopefully just a brief dark place.
