NU Wrestling 2023-24

This will be a huge dual.... Michigan beat the crap out of Iowa.
Totally agree. That was a big surprise to me, especially seeing how Iowa's top wrestlers were beaten and we only won 3 matches against them.

FOUR HUSKERS FINISH FIRST, THREE FINISH SECOND AT MISSOURI VALLEY OPEN

The Missouri Valley Men’s Open has been traditionally one of the toughest regular-season tournaments in the state of Missouri for college wrestlers, if not the Midwest as there were teams from all three NCAA levels (Div. 1, 2, and 3), NJCAA teams, and a significant contingent of NAIA schools (including the host Missouri Valley).

Among the 50+ teams in attendance, more than a handful of them are ranked team-wise in their respective division. From the NAIA, there were the #1, #9, #15, #22 and #23 ranked teams. (Grand View, Ottawa, Missouri Valley, Oklahoma City Univ., and Baker Univ.) From the NCAA Div. 1 Level, there was the #2 Missouri Tigers and the #9 ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers. From the NCAA Division 2 level, the #1, #19, (Central Oklahoma and Central Missouri). And from the NJCAA rankings the #6 team, Indian Hills C.C."

"Marshall, Mo. - Alan Koehler (125), Kyle Burwick (133), Jagger Condomitti (165) and Elise Brown Ton (174) took home titles, as the Huskers saw 11 of their 12 wrestlers place in the top six of their weight class at the Missouri Valley College Open. "
NU individual wrestlers scored a combined 225.5 points and as a team 595 points.

"Friday night was a true moment for 5th-ranked Nebraska wrestling. Facing an opportunity to take on #9 Michigan at home on the raised stage in front of the third-largest crowd in program history, Nebraska exceeded every expectation by downing the Wolverines 25-7."

GREAT effort and result for NU Wrestlers Tonight!

I don't think this will go well for the Huskers. Penn State dominated Iowa in Iowa City on Friday night. PSU wrestling is just on another planet recently.

We may win two with Lovett and Pinto but then PSU will be ready so those aren't for sure wins.

Lovett is the only one I'd put money on to win.

That PSU team is dominant. Its interesting how wrestling has produced several HoF type individuals who go on to be truly outstanding or HoF worthy coaches (Dan Gable, John Smith, Cael Sanderson for instance), yet that is so very rare in any other sport.

Danged if that PSU team isn't stocked. Their S &C coach is worth his weight in gold....UN did well with a team full of
Natty repeaters. Oh, well...hardball went the husker's way yesterday.

The Huskers wrestled their asses off today. This is a loaded PSU team. If we'd wrestled like this against Iowa we could have won.
Before the match, I wasn't expecting much, other than to make a worthy showing. After 184, I thought we had a chance... (depending on a surprise from Allred, and Nash holding his own).

Nothing to be ashamed of. We'll get 'em next year.

Huskers competed well and showed up yesterday! They now know were they stand and need to prepare for Big 10 tourney. Looking forward to going to KC for the National Championships.
