Well crap...We did not play clean enough today. Errors at key points. Disappointing. Ohio State is very good, but we helped them a bit today with errors at really critical times. Oh well.

Yep, our errors were at critical times. But tOSU played really well, didn’t give us much at all. Their decision to play the toughest schedule in the country paying off as they have hit their stride after all the early losses.

Serve/Receive was atrocious. Hames couldn't consistently set Hord effectively, either too slow or too low of a set. Hord must be able to attack as a middle, not dink and dunk. More times than not ohio st seemingly ignored Hord and concentrated on the OH. Can't recall seeing an effective or accurate back set by Hames. Never did see where Husker serving really pushed ohio st out of their comfort zone. After watching this whooping I think the Huskers will be quite fortunate to host only a 1st round of post season competition. Hate seeing the Huskers clueless as to being able to match up with an excellent opponent.

Since they started trying to set middle more the setting height has been too low in most sets. Both Allick and Hord need about 6-12 more inches on the set and they can hit it straight down. Both can usually out jump the blocker when the height is there.

Because the sets are too low they are both hitting flat and not getting a strong downward kill. Drives me nuts as you would think they practice that and would have fixed by now.

I agree ----- too low. Middles are not extending their arm and swinging freely. Too often they're pushing the ball cuz the set is shoulder or head height. Hames set Strivins quite well and consistently. Setting Schwarzenbach was a mystery to me - was it truly a mental disconnect between both of them? Hames sets to Schwarzenbach were erratic, at best. Maybe it wasn't Hames that was the issue. Setter and attacker must be comfortable with each other and what's best for an attack, not a dump and dink.

I think we’ve fallen into the trap of being an offense oriented team. NU was built on serve, block, serve receive. Our serve is very poor, our serve receive is poor too. Block is good.

If we went to a 5-1 we don’t even have a defensive specialist to accompany Lexi and Knuckles — we thought Hames in the preseason but she would have to be our setter.
