GREAT! Huskers Earn 56 Regional Bids​

"The Nebraska track and field team earned 56 bids to the NCAA West Preliminary Round, set for May 24-27 at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, Calif.

The Huskers' 56 entries at next week's regional meet are the most for the program since 2010. The NU men earned 29 regional bids, while the women collected 27. "

"The Nebraska track and field team secured five more bids to the NCAA Championships on day two of the NCAA West First Round at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, Calif., on Thursday.

With the Husker women earning five national qualifiers on Thursday, Nebraska now has 11 total bids to the NCAA meet with two days of competition left at the regional meet. "

"Harris, last year's NCAA runner-up, had the second-best javelin throw at the regional, 186-1 (56.72m). Otabor, the school-record holder who finished fourth in the nation last year, qualified with a mark of 170-11 (52.10m). Otabor and Harris rank first and second in the nation, respectively.

Johansson, the nation's leader in the shot put, threw 61-3 1/2 (18.68m) to qualify with the second-best mark at the regional meet. Latimer will join her at nationals after a season-best throw of 57-2 1/4 (17.43m), the No. 4 throw in school history.

Williams recorded a season-best 20-10 3/4 (6.37m) to earn a trip to nationals in the long jump. Williams finished 17th at last year's NCAA Outdoor Championships in the event. "

Relay Sets School Record at NCAA West First Round​

"The 4x100m relay team - Brithton Senior, Kavian Kerr, Lorenzo Paissan and Garrett Kaalund - ran 39.03 to qualify for the NCAA Championships with the third-fastest time. The Huskers entered the meet seeded 21st out of 24 teams.
They broke the previous school record of 39.19, set in 2005.

Darius Luff will make his way to Austin, Texas for the NCAA Championships in the 110m hurdles after finishing second overall with a time of 13.44. Luff has the No. 3 time in the NCAA this season (13.32).

Tyus Wilson and Michael Hoffer both qualified for the Big Red in the high jump. Wilson will head to his first NCAA Championships after clearing 7-0 1/4 (2.14m). Hoffer also cleared that height and will make the trip to nationals for the second time in his career."

Huskers Finish With 20 National Qualifiers+​


The Huskers will have 20 entries at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Austin, Texas on June 7-10. It's the most NCAA qualifiers for the Huskers since getting 21 bids in 2014.

Yerigan, who began her Husker career in 2017, will make her first career trip to the NCAA Championships after recording a personal-best 5-11 1/2 (1.82m). Yerigan brought home the bronze medal at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships two weeks ago and has set personal records in each of her last two meets.

Phipps came up big on her last triple jump attempt with a season-best leap of 43-10 1/2 (13.37m), which moved her into the top 12 and locked up a trip to the NCAA meet. Phipps was a two-time nationals qualifier at Kansas State in 2021.
