NU’s head coach in 2030

Our coach in 2030 has a good chance of being the same coach as 2027, as most contracts are now 8 years and thus they get 4 years before being canned. Thus we might only be looking 1 year into the future (possibly 2).

When you look at spans of coaching, if the 2027 coach is a newly hired coach I would say this is true. If it is an existing coach with a history of failing, it is not likely to be true. Matt Rhule is the most likely person to be the coach in 2030 simply because he is still the coach. However, if you were taking betting odds on him vs the field you would go with the field. He could be fired. He could retire. He could move to a different job. All of these are possibilities. If you look at the current tenor he is more likely to be fired at the end of this year than he is to be employed by year end. Those are just the odds when you look at his past performance vs our schedule. Do I think he will be fired by year end? Probably not.

If we are simply betting MR vs the field in 2030, you have to think that the field at least has a 90 percent chance.

Wrong. He is the most successful coach we have had in a decade. Giving the field 90% is way off in my opinion. You have yours.

Regardless of 2026, I would think the U couldn’t fire him this year no matter how bad it is. They don’t have an extra 50 million laying around to buy him out. Dannen will have to go with him as well. Can’t allow him to hire a coach after the ridiculous extension, that was forced upon Rhule or they were firing him, according to NU alum.

Maybe Collandrea will bail him out? Maybe Dana will be Dana? Maybe the DC will make a difference? With this schedule, there won’t be much room for error.

Riley was equally as successful, to date, truth be told. Rhule has a chance to exceed that, but as of now, it’s a push pretty much.

Actually he is no more successful after 38 games than Mike Riley was. At least from a wins and losses perspective.

Mike Riley had 2 losing seasons in 3 years after taking over a relatively stable 9 win-a-year program. Matt Rhule took over one of the worst programs in the country and has 2 winning seasons in 3 years. Looking at win/loss record by itself is not a reasonable gauge when comparing their tenures. This isn’t that difficult of a concept.

As for who is coaching in 2030 the odds on favorite is Matt Rhule because he’s currently the coach.

This is the reasoning the anti-Rhule won’t recognize

You state he is more likely to be fired, then say you don't think he will be fired. So what do you use as a basis for the bolded? I'll take a guess....nothing other than your desire to be right...and in this case, you'd even be wrong then. Talk about a no win situation.

So if any of those things happen, it will be because MR made a decision to put those people in position to make NU better. Not really a "bail out" when he is responsible for it happening, right? Far more accurate to say "If they win, it will be because of decisions MR made to improve the program".....but that really doesn't fit your narrative as well as "bail out".

Have you even been watching the games? I mean seriously, have you? Have you NOT personally witnessed the stupidity, ignorance, and horrible decisions made in game? How the hell are you just writing all that off? Serious question? Do you really think Matt Rhule is an excellent, smart, in game coach?

Can he get better? I don’t know, I’d like to hope so, but oftentimes people become set into their ways. Like I mentioned, maybe some of the decisions he made will allow the team to preform better? If you want to truly sit and argue that Matt Rhule is some great coach, I honestly don’t know what the hell you’ve been watching. I thought he was a better coach than this when he came here, but I was mistaken, based on what we’ve all seen. Maybe just maybe, some great people around him can help him, make him a better coach? We will have to see, but at least it’s a start. Why don’t you just own the games, instead of allowing your fandom make you look like you aren’t paying attention?

Yes have been watching. Been watching everyone else too. Making mistakes? Yes. Exaggerating by idiots sitting at home in Oklahoma? Yes. Do you watch things that don’t work by coaches in other games? Of course you don’t. Too busy bragging about your beauties you pick up in your boat every weekend. But since you have been identified as the biggest liar on this site…..well we all get it.
